Is that through the website or something different?

Theres a new(ish) BBC Scotland channel. I think it's taken the place of the BBC 1 and 2 Scottish regional variations and put it on one channel.

I'm sure I read the sru site will be showing a match per week too. I assume it'll be the televised one.

Match preview for France v Scotland:

https://www.scottishrugbyblog.co.uk/2019/08/france-v-scotland-summer-tests-2019-match-preview/

- France's poor RWC cycle;
- another reason to dislike Yoann Huget;
- a dry run with some of the RWC officials.

Strong midfield, I like the look of that, hopefully Jones hits the ground running.

McGuigan and Strauss - hmm. Suppose we know what Maitland and Seymour can do already. So good to give Byron a run out. I wonder if Strauss is really in the mix here? Seems a big opportunity for him to make a claim for the 8 jersey.

Hutchinson as back up 10 - Haggis called it

McInally captain

Would have expected Thomson or Fagerson Jr. at 8, and Hutchinson to start.

Massive game for Jamie Ritchie. The back row is one of the areas where final selection will be a bloodbath and France away is probably the biggest of the four warm-up tests. Putting in a MotM performance here will make him very hard to ignore.

Good mix of definites and those making a charge for a place. It does make you realise how far we have come when you look who will probably come in to that side.

If that center partnership could fire.... oh lala

I expect most of us will stop breathing every time Hoggy gets near the ball...

Aye - I'm hoping our prospective opponents don't go down the Irish route of simply taking him out of the game through injury.

Like the look of that team and am starting to get a bit giddy with the WC on the horizon.

Rugby pod and the thistle rugby pod released new episodes yesterday which has whet the appetite for some rugby!

On the game, I am going to put the humble pie in the oven and say we take this by a converted try!

Anyone who doubts how far we have come over the last 4 years, have a look at this. It’s a quiz challenging you to name our starting XV for the first RWC warmup of 2015.

I got embarrassing/15.

At least two players I had forgotten ever played for Scotland, another two or three I had forgotten ever played in the position in which they were selected, and a number of other names that I probably should have remembered and didn’t.

(Spoilers - looks weak).

Wow, that's a shocker of a team. Also got an embarrassing score!

I got 6. Slightly embarrassed about not getting some of the more well-known players from that team but aye, we've come a loooooong way in four years.

Holy shit that's horrible

The only thing I can really remember from the 2015 run up was the fall out from Hardie being picked.

Does Hugh Blake still play rugby?

He was one of the 6 I got - in fact the first one I typed in as I remembered him from that game. Him and Pyrgos.

Yes, he’s been at Bay of Plenty for the last 3 years.

OK - I can admit it now, I got 5/15!

Got Tonks slightly by accident, after running through every FB candidate I could think of, including Murchie. Of course he started at 10, and I had forgotten about Jackson’s move to 15.

Didn’t think Blake ever got a start, and Blair Cowan had disappeared from my memory entirely.

The really encouraging thing is that these were the fringe players challenging for selection last time. This time, we have a number of very established players who didn’t even make it into the training squad (Richie Gray, Scott, Bennett, Weir). Our depth is massively better than it used to be.

Anyone know how Premier Sports works if I don't have Sky or Virgin? Do I have to use the Premier Player then cast it from my device to the TV, or just watch it on the laptop?

I use it directly through the premier player app. It works on my iphone, ipad and kindle fire - never tried it on the laptop. I cast it directly to my firestick and it works perfectly.

Edit: Just tried it on my laptop and that works too - you could probably connect via an HDMI cable to your TV, or just watch directly on the laptop.

Cheers  Connecting it through an HDMI was going to be my plan.

Silly question perhaps... but do I have the option of a free trial of Premier Sports this month? I haven't had one before... and seem unable to find mention of one online.

I couldn't find anything either. Took several web browsers to find one that could complete the sign up process. Now just hoping to receive confirmation that it has gone through.

Scrums aren't going to get any better on this turgid turf, and Bhatti doesn't have the technique to compensate.

It's seems to be a staple of our game to get a yellow for intentional knock-ons shortly after losing possession.
