A tour win in Oz and draw in NZ suggests you are wrong I'm afraid. In todays environment, whatever you think of Gatland, those are brilliant results.
That squad should have won in NZ, and winning in Oz isn't so tough anymore - we've won two games over there in the last decade so again, the talent in a Lions tour should cuff them.

And the style of rugby is shit boring.
Moreover, I know the Lions and their fans want to win matches, but it's not as if they are entering a competitive tournament. I would certainly rather see them playing enjoyable rugby rather than the attritional variety, and I would be surprised if there weren't lots of other Lions fans who feel the same way.

SA oughtn't be tooooooooo tough for a Lions squad to beat, playing enterprising rugby, so it would (have) be(en) nice to see them try.

Yup. He was on a stage 3 on £8k, did the maths and decided he'd rather study law.
Was it not a bit stranger than that? He'd done the London Scottish thing during 2016/17 while in the Academy and had signed his first pro deal ahead of the 2017/18 season. About 3 weeks into that campaign he stepped away from rugby completely. Real shame - I thought he would comfortably make PRO14 level and might well have been good enough to push for full Scotland caps.

I thought I remembered he signed a pro deal then decided it wasn't for him and went back to Uni just before term time started IIRC.

Match preview for Glasgow v Ulster:

https://wp.me/p68WtH-8dp

Stronger Ulster squad than the one which lost in Round 19 at Scotstoun - but equally the Glasgow 23 is better than the one from that night and their form has also been on the up since then. Going to be an exciting evening!

From the new to the old:

Tim Visser has retired.

Great winger. And that's how far my praise goes.

My friend says he doesn’t know since he uses the Nord/RugbyPass combo to access all rugby of any note.

If it's the online Premier Player you're after and you've not had one of their offers before then they're currently doing a first month free offer with promo code FIRSTMONTHFREE. Renews month to month at £9.99 after that. As long as you cancel at least 5 days before the first paid month's subscription is taken it won't cost you anything.

Sorry for interrupting, but I’ve just said young Hastings will be a lion test player, any thoughts on that? At the start of the season he looked a bit ropey, but he’s had a bloody good season and if he keeps progressing at the same rate he could easily make the squad next time round.

He's really improving and is probably better than any of thought. I guess if he keeps working hard then after the world cup when it's not so serious he can get some time ahead of Russell for Scotland and from there maybe the Lions if he excels.

He is very good, his goal kicking has gone from a concern to dead eyed.

Looking at the 10’s that will be around in 2 years, I think he could be in pole position.

You'd think Farrell is first pick, it's if he can get past Russell first and then as Gatland is coach is Scotland win away apparently.

So... Glasgow v Leinster then. What do we expect? Leinster are literally the only team I wouldn’t be confident of Glasgow beating, but I think a home crowd will see them through.

Owens to ref. Should give both teams a bit of freedom at the breakdown to break every law in the game but they should at least all be well-versed in how he refs a game.

Leinster will want to make it a structured, forward-dominated game and do a Sarries to Glasgow. However, I think the Glasgow pack have shed the last remnants of fanny from their approach following the Sarries lesson and will not allow that to happen again. Not sure Leinster will have enough in the backs if the game does then go helter-skelter.

In all, 55/45 game in Glasgow's favour.

Leinster have had another week to get over any hangover from the Sarries game and I think we are more likely to see a bigger performance from them. Particularly as they are pretty experienced in big games and it is the biggest test of the Glasgow tight 5 will have faced since their own euro game against Sarries.

If the game was last week I would have said Glasgow were favourites but now I think they are very marginal favourites.

Glasgow are playing the game at a speed which no other team in the league can cope with, if it's dry I can see a handy Glasgow win.

Early odds:

Leinster 8/13

Sarries could and they're probably the team closest to Leinster stylistically.

Glasgow have to avoid the arm wrestle at all costs.

Small issue of playing Munster in between and having to travel.
I hate getting confident, but home city and Hogg’s Last game, like Kellock’s there is Loren than a good chance.
Cullen and his comments are a team talk for an already unified team.

Thoughts on the Pro final: Glasgow seem to be the more in form team but can a Leinster defence be as easily unpicked as Ulster's was on Saturday? I doubt it. In saying that, a repeat of the Ulster performance and it'd be difficult to see who could live with them, my only fear is that it becomes a Glasgow-Sarries mark 2 with a heavy forward-orientated match. However, on balance, I reckon Glasgow should win with the home factor.

Talking mental hangover rather than physical. Losing their biggest game of the season may, only may, have had an effect on them throughout the last week. Last week would have been part getting over the weekend before and preparing for Munster. This week will be all eyes on the prize. It isn't a long flight from Dublin so travel issues should be negligible for a team that will be more than used to travelling away for big games and winning.

Delighted with Glasgow's semi performance. Superb.

Now can they raise their game again v Leinster? I think so. I think they'll score a try or two at least (they'll need to). Won't be a repeat of the recent RDS game though, will be tighter and lower scoring. Second do they have the mental capacity to deal with a team that will keep coming at them til the 90th minute. They've shown enough to suggest they do but will need to learn from the Sarries game to get them the win.

Looking forward to it immensely :)

PS think Rennie deserves a lot of credit for the way he's got the team ticking over this year. First year was always going to be tough but this year has seen a big improvement.

Bit more buildup - playoff memories from the last time Glasgow were in the final. A rather good day in Belfast a little under 4 years ago...

I think this one definitely qualifies as a long read so grab your favourite hot (or cold!) beverage and settle in for some happy memories of the greatest day in the club's history.

Blind taste it and people never pick it. Makes a decent daiquiri, really good negroni and as a flip it is actually exceptional.

Spoken like a true buckie connoisseur

I was back in Scotland 6 weeks ago on holiday and the buckie was produced at a golf outing; a 3 putt or more or driving OB and it was a hefty down. The back 9 became pretty grim given the state of the early season greens!

Attack Coach Duncan Hodge and Defence Coach Calum MacRae have today extended their contracts with the club for a further two seasons.
Hodge gets pelters but this suggests Cockerill is happy with what he is doing.
