Working midweek in Melbourne for the next few weeks, need a place to watch the game. If it has good beer, all to the good.

What says the Bored?

We used to cabal at the Ale House Project in Brunswick. They usually show it, but its worth checking with them.

Serves top notch beer too.

The Maori Chief Hotel in South Melbourne certainly used to show the rugby. But check, of course.

No idea.

The Precinct might be showing the game, but someone would have to ring and find out. 03 9429 1633

I tried, but no answer. They showed Saturday's Lions game, so assume tomorrow's will be on too. The only downside is no audio. Might actually be a plus.

Worth a mini cabal? Like drinking pots instead of pints.

Depends where in Melbourne you are. Anywhere vaguely northside and Alehouse Project is probably your best bet - usually have a very solid taplist.

Just looked at their taplist now, seriously strong. Probably where I'll be heading to watch it.

Thanks all. I'm staying at the Crown, nice enough rooms and that but the place itself is pretty gash. Client is near The Maori Chief but it looks pretty sticky-carpet. Might give the Ale House Project a go, I've got a client guy coming in from the airport who'll miss the kick-off, he'll be faster getting to Brunswick then the Crown then out to a pub.

I need to have a beer with the client guy tomorrow but I'd be up for a mini-cabal for any of the other midweekers except The Hurricanes when I'll be staying back in Wgtn.

Will check in with y'all same time next week.

Turf Bar on Queen St isn't far from you and is well known as a good spot to watch the rugger. Its CBD location means it generally attracts a solid sort of office worker clientele.

I watched the rugby last week at the Charles Dickens on Collins st, nice little bar even if it was full of Lions supporters.

Yup I'm keen for next Wed (if a fat Scottish New Zealander is welcome...).

The best place to watch it is probably the Qantas Club, waiting for the next flight out of town.

Not bad. Pity it took you two days to think of it.

Jesus wept. I'll just have arrived back from a three-day bender in Singapore that morning. Still, I'll probably need a few beers to get to sleep.
