Rassie Erasmus would add immense value to a South African rugby system that finally appears to be showing signs of functioning efficiently again
The auld team back in action........what is the story with Brendon.....you can definitely see the value in his contributions....he made a huge difference at the Sharks too.

Wonder what kind of contract Venter has? Will he only be involved for this series or for every test from now on?

Not coaching, just consulting. If I were SARU I would be throwing money at him.

Yes ,there does seem to be some pride restored to the jersey.

Not a fan either. But he played very very well, took the opportunities and rounded off well.
Hat off to the man.

He is just too slow, would have made an excellent inside centre.

I saw highlights of the test last night while I was running 100mph on the treadmill. The Springbok # 6 (?) had a good game. I've not really noticed him before.

He's won a lot of MoM awards this year. His friends and family all have new cellphones by now.

Makes sense. Stormers didn't play NZ last year in SR, this year he missed several games in NZ.

You'll see him in August and September. :)

With Oupa obviously out of sorts, we need a bit of fire on the flank. JLdP and Kolisis will provide it, together with Kriel.

Cape Town - Stormers centre Huw Jones believes that Siya Kolisi has put his hands up for the Springbok captaincy this year.

Jones, speaking to Sport24 in an exclusive interview, believes that Stormers lock Eben Etzebeth is also turning into a good leader.

The Springboks are looking for a new skipper in 2017 after the indifferent appearances from Whiteley this year, and at this stage coach Allister Coetzee has not given anything away in terms of who he is considering.

"Siya Kolisi has put his hands up for the Springbok captaincy this season and Eben Etzebeth is growing into his role as Stormers vice-captain," Jones, currently out injured with a hamstring strain, said.

"However, I believe too much pressure is often placed on one man. The Springboks will need to put a leadership group together because it will drive the team forward and Whiteley can play a part with this.

"At the Stormers, we have a core group of leaders who are always on the same page and they are crucial in driving training sessions and team meetings.

"It’s refreshing for players to hear from other players and not just the coaches all of the time. It’s been massive for us and it would definitely be good for the Springboks if they followed suit."

ArnoldVDH wrote:Can the Serfontein - Van Rensburg combination work when the latter gets back from injury?
Yes, it could work very well. There are a number of potential quality 12/13 combos that would be better than Kriel playing 13. For example:
Frans/Serfontein
Voster/Serfontein
RjvR/Serfontein
Odendaal/Serfontein
Serfontein/Vorster
Serfontein/Mapoe
Frans/Voster
Frans/Mapoe
Frans/Venter
Serfontein/Venter
RjvR/Venter

*All of the above are better options than Serfeontein/Kriel. Even an on-form DDA/Serfontein combo will be better.
Sards wrote:The sudden obsession with moving Serfontein. Is it because he is a Bulls player?
It's not a "new obsession" at all. We (some of us) have been talking about this for ages. The fact that 13 is a great position for him. You might (but probably not, so even ask oomPB to remind you) remember the talk of "the next Danie Gerber" in his early days. Danie played 13 just in case you weren't aware. ;) Also, in the first test especially and during SR this year his best performances have been at 13. Has all the attributes of a quality 13 and of it means you get 2 world class players on the field then moving him to 13 to accommodate another at 12 makes sense. And yes, Frans is world class at 12. RjvR has potential to be that as well.

You're a moron. No surprise there. You've always waited for a bad game to throw in an "I told you so" but have always afforded lesser white players (and coaches for that matter) more leeway. Kolisi was fantastic in his debut Bok season. Then went off the boil and had severe injuries but is now back to his best again. Funny, because the same thing happened to Marcell...I don't see you ever bashing him like you have Kolisi. And then Oom WT with the "he would have made a brilliant inside center" comment

Jens need to get off his arse and start a 3rd match thread before I take the liberty with a less than colorful one.

Injury report:
Cape Town - Springbok team doctor, Dr Konrad von Hagen has confirmed that Oupa Mohoje will not be fit for the third Test match against France in Johannesburg on Saturday.

Mahoje left the field after a clash of heads early in the first half during the second Test in Durban. He was replaced by Jean-Luc du Preez.

Jesse Kriel, who missed the second Test is busy with the final phase of his return to play protocol and will be available for selection if he comes through the tests successfully.

The midfielder received a blow to the head in the first Test in Pretoria, which resulted in a weeklong layoff.

Van Hagen confirmed that those were the only injury worries at present.

“There are the usual bumps and bruises but that is to be expected after tough and very physical Test match,” said Dr Von Hagen. “Other than that, the players are in good physical condition and in high spirits.”

The Bok team to take on France in the final series encounter will be named on Thursday afternoon.

Correct. I really hope AC doesn't mess with the 23 at all, other than bringing Kriel on the bench in for Oupa.

We can make a couple changes within the 23 but keep them the same.
