It is who Dre claimed to be when attempting to post using a multi whilst on a ban. He then carried on like a pork chop when called on it, not knowing that we had his email address for his dr dre2 login which has his correct name, which isn't Jessica.
The pork chop got perma fried by 3 separate mods. He is toast. persona non grata, shoot on sight for evermore.

A real pain in the ass. But have to comply to the right to be forgotten, have personal details removed from public, and also from internal non public data being held.
The issue with legislation like this on the interweb is where is the contract held?

e.g. the servers are in Cape Town, the poster is in America, the other poster (say there was one) was in India, and the managing team are in UK but the Ltd Co that covers all are in the Caymans.

So good luck with that.
By the way I don't think that's the issuend. I think the issue is who is the legal data controller. You guys might want to look into that because there's no way that PR is the most complicated structure to which the GDPR will apply and the ICO won't care if PR finds it a bit too hard to work out.

Crikey. Glad I'm not a mod. I did offer once but it appears it's not the best job in the world.

Not exactly. I was trying to broker a settlement when a small war on here appeared.

I'd make a poor mod. Too lazy.

I didn't pursue it terribly hard, so I reckon that's the case.

It's a poisoned chalice. The relief is palpable.

I would say that too if I had been rejected like that.

It was before my time, and I joined during the 2003 6N.

Derek Noble as a poster- I doubt if there's more than ten of us left who really saw the real thing and Globby was NOT one of them

Nope. Before then I think. JM's mem more reliable on this sort of stuff but whoever he was, his notoriety comes from threatening the board (or maybe some poster(s)) with reporting them to the (London?) Internet Police.

My vague, hazy memory was that Dozy claimed he'd been mugged by someone with a hammer and Derek Noble keeps popping into my head and nothing seems to make sense anymore.

People kept referencing Derek Noble (as they did during the QP days) and then someone actually came up with the login.

Would've been a different one to the very olden days given the change in board I suppose, but either way, it had a revival

As I remember it was originally a QP invention. Could be wrong, but went back to those early days

It goes back to the bored where there were no logins - you just typed in a name for every post, so anyone could claim to be anyone (though it did expose your IP address in the HTML if you viewed source!). And yes, as recounted by 'Tah many times it was QP (Kiwi as he posted as then) claiming to be from the Internet Police coming to get all the regulars (Waratah, Seneca, Karahi, pigsy) for breaking the laws of the Internet.

And, as pointed out, Derek Noble became El Bonkered and QP lost it.

Before my time as well but Tah regaled us a few times about the events.

As I recall:

Ep:1

1. One day on the old old old board QP published a letter from Derek Noble of the London Internet Police.
2. Derek, who must have used some form of google alert way before they were invented, immediately responded offering Quent his fullest support.
3. It all kind of esculated from there.

Ep: 2

Dozy and the hammer- I think (and I may be wrong) I just reset the Derek Noble password in the archives and logged in to wind Dozy up (or I reset it and someone else did)

I'm less sure about Ep 2.

The thing about QP was that there was a level of intelligwnce there that doesn't appear to have manifested elsewhere in his life. Perhaps that was the frustration - the knowing that he was capable of more but couldn't quite get there - that drove him around the bend. And over the bridge and up the hill and left at the second roundabout and continue down for another half mile until you reach number 23 to peer in through the lady's window.

Totally agree with Santa.

As an aside, I was intro'd to Keith Quinn during the RWC- I was, for once, speechless.

I mean "Why does QP think your daughter is a dogface bisexual" isn't the ideal icebreaker?

There is a Derek Noble on FB, and he's from...Levin. The plot thickens.

just reading a bit more on that stuff via google.

it really is sad how lives can be ruined by the internet, and how so much hate can be created (often by misunderstandings, and by lack of communication).

one thing I've learned on my journey so far in life is to keep an open mind, and not judge based on part information. there are usually 2 sides to a story.

the world really does need more tolerance and understanding though.

and although I laughed at the link that I posted above, it's a sad day when this stuff really starts affecting lives.

as for the internet, I don't know whether it exists currently, but I think in future, schools are going to have to devote time to explaining to kids how much damage can be done online, to yourself and to others.

it's a shame that some have had to learn the lessons for others.

yeah...nah.

seems like one to generally try to stay out of tbh.

I genuinely know nothing about it anyway, other than seeing a couple of the names mentioned before, and what I read about when I googled it tonight. first I became aware of any rugby message boards was 4 years ago.
