I've tipped your Bruins to win it all, tb.

I hope I'm wrong. :o

I saw the Bruins late in the regular season when they did their western Canadian swing. They were/are an impressive team: good skating, very good forechecking. Boston has managed to regroup without bottoming-out, that's good management. The Bergeron-Marchand-Pastrnak line is outstanding.

The Bruins and the Jets have been impressive. We will see how they do on the road.

Once they got rid of the GM, the sky was the limit.

Thankfully, Chai went to Mulletville where he is building something special.

The issues with the Oilers' management go beyond Chiarelli. A son of one of my customers was drafted by a top end NHL team a few years back. His father told me how the Oilers scouted and communicated with a promising player in its backyard: head-shaker. I am not a fan of Mark Spector, but he did a good piece on Sportsnet about how "the old boys" are back controlling the Oilers' affairs.

Oh for sure, that organization is a mess from tip to tail (which I love).

The internet is full of articles about the Oilers:

Flyers fans throwing shit onto the ice after they get humiliated at home again!

They should have been directing it at Fraude Giroux - another no show by him...

8 goals without Geno = fun way to start the week. Pens have a ton of problems, and I don't see them sniffing the Cup this time, but it's always sweet to beat Philly.

I'm going with 'no', at least compared to the best teams. Nashville in 5 or 6.

The San Jose v VGK series should be a beauty. SJ may be the sleeper of the west.

The Jets have skill, size and they can skate. It has taken them a bit of time to go from competitors to winners, which is a bigger step up from being participants to competitors. Having said that, Nashville is very deep and got away with some sloppy play against Colorado. For Nashville it is the Stanley Cup or nothing.

And as the Jets showed in the Wild series if you have "sloppy play" against them, they will kill you.

I think that Jets v Preds series will be great. I am pulling Jets in 7.

I still want the Pens to win it all. A 3 in a row dynasty in today's NHL would be amazing.

I jinxed the Bruins something fierce! :o

Caps win 4 in a row and finish off the BJs. This is the year they finally beat the Pens. They just have to.

You've got it easy. I've got the Canucks, San Fran 49ers and the Blues (as in AKL). FML.

At the end of 2, Nashville have a 36-16 shot edge.

Winnipeg lead 3-0.

Pens doing that "let's give up the first 2 goals again" thing.

Not convinced it will work this time...

Tom Wilson is a cunt.

Aston-Reese has a broken jaw that will require surgery, and a concussion.

Anyway, Pens suck - they continue to give up odd man rushes for fun. Murray + defence are shaky as all hell, and Kessel looks injured - he's offering nothing.

Not this year.

Well, San Jose are putting up a fight after all. They were pretty dominant last night and deserved the victory.

And I seem wrong about the Peg. Playing good hockey and really taking it to Nashville. Both excellent series.

Wilson deserves his time off. Terrible hit. But hoping Caps win out there. I've nothing against the Pens but don't want them winning it again.

The Tampa Boston series is nasty. Lots of dirty stuff going on. Hopefully Tampa will end that little shithead Marchand's season.

See the gif of him biting the lineman's arm? How is that not a bigger story?

Pittsburgh tie up the series with Washington 2-2.

Nashville up 2-0 on Winnipeg late in the 2nd.

I do think a Vegas-Winnipeg series to determine the West would be funny just for the inevitable city comparisons lazy media members will do:

"Vegas-they've got the casinos, the nightclubs, Sin City, so on
Winnipeg-they've got the Blue Bombers"

Thornton might be back for game 5. He might lack speed but he's still Joe Thornton and a beast on the PP.

If the Caps kept their focus on hockey they'd be up 3-1 - but they seem to enjoy acting like plums...

That said, I still think they win the series. Pens are gutting it out - it's tough work. Only the top line is doing anything. Basically they can't score without Sid on the ice.

Both sides are a step down on Bs/TB, from what I've seen of that series. Pens v. Caps has been fast and fun - but there's a good helping of sloppiness.

Colour me suitably impressed that you know this.

Every series worth watching except the Boston/Tampa series (hate and ambivalence). Still think it will be Nashville and Vegas but SJ and the Peg really making every game competitive. Subban must be loving the attention from the White Out fans, and, of course, he rises to the ocassion.

Random question for our CFL fans. I was watching a CFL game last year and a coach challenged a non-pass interference call. Is that the only "judgment call" that can be challenged or can you challenge things like holding too? And how's that working out?

Not that I know of, I think that is the only "judgement" call you can challenge. The field is too big and the end-zone is too big. But I guess with only having 3 downs they have to balance that for the offensive team. Every year I try to get it into it and get behind the Lions, but every year my interest wains as the NFL and NHL start up. :|

Rugby teammate of mine had a CFL tryout yesterday. Not sure which team. He's only started rugby this year and is a beast if he sticks with the game.

I caught the last two periods of the Jets/Predators game last night. Winnipeg's skill, speed and size of their forwards took over the game, very impressive. Nashville's D looked wasted at the end of the game. There was a point with about six minutes remaining in the game where the Jets' forecheck hemmed in Nashville for two-three minutes. It was a brilliant display of hockey.

I have not been able to see the other series but hear there is some nasty shit going on in the East.

TB just finished off Boston. Did it easy.

Happy to be wrong, as I dislike Boston immensely. Fuck them.

TB will wreck Caps/Pens.

A fitting way to end the season...

It's been a great run - but the Pens never looked likely this year.

Not sure they win the Cup if Letang was healthy last year either... I'd like him gone.

Anyway, well done, tcc - wherever you are... Caps were the better team - deserved winners.
