A fitting way to end the season...

It's been a great run - but the Pens never looked likely this year.

Not sure they win the Cup if Letang was healthy last year either... I'd like him gone.

Anyway, well done, tcc - wherever you are... Caps were the better team - deserved winners.

Very humble MB. Spade a spade, and I agree with you. Not sure all is right in the Penguins camp but it will all come out in the offseason.

Ovie is playing hurt though and will be a non factor from here on. He was nigh on crawling off the ice after some shifts last night.

Preds were super dominant last night. You wonder how the Peg was up 3-2 based on that performance. But we know they can play better, and the Preds can definitely play worse. Gotta wait 3 days for game 7 now for some stupid reason. Thursday night local time.

So Vancouver again dropped in the draft lottery, no surprise there. At least there looks to be a lot of good D men in this draft but knowing Canucks luck, we will pick the bust.

Snooze, you going to Edmonton for the Scotland vs Canada test?

Meanwhile in Oiler-land, Bob (Teflon) Nicholson told one of his underlings to can 20 middle and upper managers from Rogers Place. It is what happens when the rulers budget for four playoff games.

I'm a what? How did you see thru me.

canuckles, didn't mean to upset you about that lovely city you call home. Please forgive me (in my best Kiwi accent). :D

What's the call for game 7 tomorrow night? After the job Nashville did on Monday it's hard not to nack them. But maybe Winnipeg can make the necessary adjustments. Hope so.

It's not my home; it is the place where I make my money.

If you are ever in the city, send me an email. I will buy you a drink, or two.

And as the Jets showed in the Wild series if you have "sloppy play" against them, they will kill you.

I think that Jets v Preds series will be great. I am pulling Jets in 7.

I still want the Pens to win it all. A 3 in a row dynasty in today's NHL would be amazing.

Yes Jets in 7, this man is genius.

Caps, now with that giant Pens' monkey off their back, are playing damn well here.

Bolts haven't looked very good, tho... Disappointing.

EDIT: Now 5-2, and that's that. Caps doing this easy. Bolts fans are filthy.

For the record, he tried out with the Blue Bombers.

Vegas up on Winnipeg 3-2 in the 3rd. Winnipeg scored 15 seconds into the 3rd to cut the deficit in half.

Surprised Vegas were able to hold on to that lead. Good job. Great series. Crowds at both of these clubs are ace - real entertainment in itself.

500/1.

That's what the Golden Knights were paying to win the Cup at the start of the season.

On paper it's a good team - but they're a fucking juggernaut!

If they win a Cup before the Canucks...

Think the question should be asked:

Is it an advantage to build a team from scratch? You have no legacy contracts or players or coaches you don't want to carry over to the next year.

Yes.

McPhee has done a wonderful job - but there are GMs across the league that would love to be afforded the same opportunity.

Well, why can't they?

Dispersal draft followed by an expansion draft?

Beats the hell out of a #1 draft pick.

Feels like that's being a little unfair to McPhee and Gallant. People always thought they'd be good for an expansion team but a whole bunch of guys who were considered role-players at best have stepped up with the added responsibility of top line duty: William Karlsson, Reilly Smith, Nate Schmidt etc. Obviously having Fleury with his experience was something no expansion team ever had and the fact he's had a career year in an already HoF career is probably the main reason Vegas are not just an impressive 1st round exit. In any case, Tom Rowe is looking even dumber for firing Gallant in Florida.

No. But ride the wave while they can. It's a long season unfortunately for them. As of right now there is nobody who isn't pleased for them given the latest events in the city.

Just ignore the first 2 words and go from there.  I've made some right doozy predictions throughout these playoffs. Thank God I'm not a betting man.

Would like the Caps to win game 7 to ensure a virgin Cup winner.

I'm a bit old-school, I feel newly minted franchises have to experience some mediocrity for a few seasons. I can see the point of view that they're in the league, they've paid (a lot of) money, why not let them be competitive, but also feel it's unfair to other franchises who have to give up good / decent players and watch this team come from nowhere.

Full credit to the Vegas team though, not their fault the system is structured this way, and they've done a masterful job top to bottom.

I can agree with that, but I felt I had to get on the wagon with them during the playoffs. :D I disagree with people calling them out as being given the 'easiest of rides'. When I saw the team list in October I would have thought they'd be lucky to get 60 points. Give all the credit in the world to the coaching and management teams as they are the ones that have made them a team. Not one player (MAF aside) is really worthy of a $6M+ contract, and yet look how well they're playing. Good for them I reckon.

I was going to put $100 each for both of us when the Vegas line came out for the Knights, but I forgot to put the bets down.

I've found myself cheering for the Caps...

Maybe it's b/c I secretly like Ovie... also Kunitz winning another Cup doesn't sit right with me.

Now, don't fuck this final period up!

And this:

If the Caps try play full on bang and crash hockey they will be seriously f**ked after 2 periods and the SC will be in LVGK's hands (I know it's VGK but adding the L just adds flavour :D ). Vegas are built for speed and the Caps will just be chasing shadows. I hope this goes 7 and it is as entertaining as it appears it should be.

LVGK in 7. Or Caps in 5.

I always thought they gave nice expansion draft rules to Vegas to make sure they were competitive quickly as the NFL is coming to town the next year. For sure they want Vegas to build a loyal fan base before that league moves into town and starts competing with them directly.

Vegas is Bettman's baby. The Knights are making the other teams look like fools. Each team received its $15 million expansion cut, and now the Knights' owner is going to make tens of millions during their cup run. I am playing hooky this morning and watching Hockey Central (on the deck this beautiful morning). That gang is going on about Vegas like they are the '77 Canadiens. What the hell is going on!

The Sharks are going to sign Kane for 7 years!
