Feels like that's being a little unfair to McPhee and Gallant. People always thought they'd be good for an expansion team but a whole bunch of guys who were considered role-players at best have stepped up with the added responsibility of top line duty: William Karlsson, Reilly Smith, Nate Schmidt etc. Obviously having Fleury with his experience was something no expansion team ever had and the fact he's had a career year in an already HoF career is probably the main reason Vegas are not just an impressive 1st round exit. In any case, Tom Rowe is looking even dumber for firing Gallant in Florida.

Would like the Caps to win game 7 to ensure a virgin Cup winner.

I'm a bit old-school, I feel newly minted franchises have to experience some mediocrity for a few seasons. I can see the point of view that they're in the league, they've paid (a lot of) money, why not let them be competitive, but also feel it's unfair to other franchises who have to give up good / decent players and watch this team come from nowhere.


Full credit to the Vegas team though, not their fault the system is structured this way, and they've done a masterful job top to bottom.

I can agree with that, but I felt I had to get on the wagon with them during the playoffs. I disagree with people calling them out as being given the 'easiest of rides'. When I saw the team list in October I would have thought they'd be lucky to get 60 points. Give all the credit in the world to the coaching and management teams as they are the ones that have made them a team. Not one player (MAF aside) is really worthy of a $6M+ contract, and yet look how well they're playing. Good for them I reckon.

If the Caps try play full on bang and crash hockey they will be seriously f**ked after 2 periods and the SC will be in LVGK's hands (I know it's VGK but adding the L just adds flavour ). I always thought they gave nice expansion draft rules to Vegas to make sure they were competitive quickly as the NFL is coming to town the next year. For sure they want Vegas to build a loyal fan base before that league moves into town and starts competing with them directly.

Vegas is Bettman's baby. The Knights are making the other teams look like fools. Each team received its $15 million expansion cut, and now the Knights' owner is going to make tens of millions during their cup run.
