How many teams have come out west and swept the Flames, Oilers and Canucks? Bloody embarrassing. The Flames' problem on home ice is absurd.village wrote:1st world problems Marshall. We blew up our team, embraced the tank to try and win the draft lottery and the new players didn't get the memo and now we have a 3 game winning streak, although that should change since the western Canada roadtrip is now over.
Perfect timing. As you said, cannot keep pace this year, and contract up. They plan on living here now, so suspect they may take up positions within the organisation. Great ambassadors for the game and great for their communities. For me it's a good thing all round. Not to mention it frees up $12M for the team.canuckles wrote:The Sedin boys are hanging up their blades with the Canucks: great players who have always come across in the same manner off the ice.
I thought they would go for another season, but their feet and hands slowed this year.

Seriously though, amazing players. Going to miss them.
They've not done badly

I remember watching Brendl in the Dub with the Hitmen.

What will the fallout be with the Flames over the summer?

Still a tough division. Reckon it will be Pens vs Oilers for the cup.
The Oiler's will regress.
In hockey it all starts with how a team controls the 8-10 feet in front of its net (where 70% + of goals are scored). The Flames, the Oilers and the Canucks are all lousy at this aspect of the game. It is not solely the fault of the D-Men; it is wingers who are too slow and centres who play up.hornets wrote:canuckles wrote:I think the '99 draft is rated the worst.hornets wrote:Snooze wrote:Who da fack is Brian Finley?? Tuff to say.
Some want the coach gone, I am inclined to agree, but only if there is a better option available. There are lots of people that think Gulutzan is a smart hockey mind. I look at the Jets and at the end of last season people were calling for Maurice's head......now they aren't.
They need right side scoring, and also need to launch Brouwer into the sun. Thankfully, with Lucic in Alberta, Brouwer's contract isn't the worst.
The team had chunks of the season when they were the best team in the league, and chunks when they were far and away the second worst team (thank you Oilers for holding down the #1 spot).
They has some good D coming through Rasmus and Kulak both looked good against the Oilers the other night (haha suck stupid Oilers).
Jusso Valimaki is the fella, could be interesting, good player captained the Fins at the World Jrs.canuckles wrote:In hockey it all starts with how a team controls the 8-10 feet in front of its net (where 70% + of goals are scored). The Flames also have a young Finnish defenceman who the team is high on. Brodie has had a rough year.
You did indeed.hornets wrote:hornets wrote:village wrote:

Look at that......
That fella hornets got it bang on the head.
Another sub 80 point season for the Oilers.
In the last 10 years the Oilers have finished with more then 80 points twice.
In the last 17 years, they've finished in the playoffs 4 times.
The Flames my have fallen on their faces, but the Oilers are professional at being terrible.
And two spots further down that graphic would be Jamie "The new Roenick" Lundmark. Rangers had 2 top 10 picks and blew both of them big time.hornets wrote:Snooze wrote:Who da fack is Brian Finley?? Top pick by the Preds.

The following year we took Lundqvist with the 205th overall pick. Go figure.
Yeah, great night. Wonderful send off and actually quite emotional. Time to move on with a proper rebuild - not one of those Edmonton fukc ups, but a really good one (hope on top of hope on top of miracle)Plastic Sarrie wrote:Sedins winning their last home game in OT

f**king tragic, all these players would be around 17-19ish of age.Humboldt Broncos head coach Darcy Haugan has been identified as one of 14 victims who died when their junior hockey team bus collided with another vehicle on Friday.
The RCMP confirmed 14 fatalities and 15 injuries in the collision in Saskatchewan on Friday.
Police say there were 29 people on the bus at the time of the crash, including the driver. Three of the injuries are critical. RCMP is working with partner agencies to notify and support families and has not yet released information about who was killed or injured.
Unbelievable news when first heard about it (at the Mavs/Gold 'scrimmage'). I know that area well and it is relatively flat. I read where the bus was t-boned, probably a driver going through a stop. As you know, hornets, the junior hockey teams in these prairie towns and small cities are the latters "pride and joys."hornets wrote:Not NHL, but we don't have a hockey thread.

I laugh when people debate that Sid is the best player in the league. There is not a better all round player in the league. The guy is a f**king machine.Marshall Banana wrote:MAF + Murray with shutouts.
7-0 was fun. Different league when Sid + Geno are in God mode.
So here we have it - Pens are getting wrecked, down 4-0 now. Oh, they've just scored, so 4-1...Marshall Banana wrote: I don't feel confident in a series against the Flyers or Devils.
Haven't followed Philly this year. Can they really beat the Pens?Marshall Banana wrote:So here we have it - Pens are getting wrecked, down 4-0 now. Oh, they've just scored, so 4-1...Marshall Banana wrote: I don't feel confident in a series against the Flyers or Devils.
Murray hasn't looked great this season - losing his Dad didn't help matters. Defence has been sketchy as fuck overall this year.
They are a below .500 team on the road. I think they're in big trouble...
