Years from now when the Canucks will be good, you will look back on the past weekend and say "I was there."

Great stuff going on in Colorado. They trade Duchene and the Avs take off, with MacKinnon finally hitting stud status.

And my prediction that Vegas wins the Cup is still looking good.

I was speaking with one of my Montreal reps this morning and the word going around there is Price is available and the Oilers are making a strong pitch for him.

Wow.

That would be something!

In Pens news, JR going all in and getting Brassard. Pens have needed a 3C all season.

I love it.

The Crosbys and Malkins of this world don't come by too often. JR has done a tremendous job with surrounding them with as much talent as possible.

Brassard was a good pick up for the Pens. Not that you need it but his playoff experience would help any contender.

So the Rangers blew it all up and traded away Nash, Miller, Holden, Grabner & McDonaugh. Have to say I approve. Our window was three years back and we've gone backwards in a hurry this past year. The return was pretty decent I think.

Surely Alain Vignault will be gone this summer. Will be interesting to see if Tavares hits the market whether the Rangers look to bring him in.

The Vegas miracle still rolling I see and they added Thomas Tatar.

This Penguins defence is an abomination. x(

They're not going anywhere unless Murray comes back from concussion and stands on his head for the entirety of the playoffs...

1st world problems Marshall. We blew up our team, embraced the tank to try and win the draft lottery and the new players didn't get the memo and now we have a 3 game winning streak, although that should change since the western Canada roadtrip is now over.

Yes - looking at your upcoming games, the tank should get back on track...

The Metro remains a brute - I don't feel confident in a series against the Flyers or Devils. Although it beats playing Boston early - they own the Pens. :uhoh:

How many teams have come out west and swept the Flames, Oilers and Canucks? Bloody embarrassing. The Flames' problem on home ice is absurd.

The Sedin boys are hanging up their blades with the Canucks: great players who have always come across in the same manner off the ice.

I thought they would go for another season, but their feet and hands slowed this year.

Perfect timing. As you said, cannot keep pace this year, and contract up. They plan on living here now, so suspect they may take up positions within the organisation. Great ambassadors for the game and great for their communities. For me it's a good thing all round. Not to mention it frees up $12M for the team.

Ran into a Calgary bloke when I was in NZ recently. Had a beer and watched a bit of a Flames game with him. We were both pretty embarrassed about the product our respective teams had out on the ice. :(

A great image to show how fickle the NHL draft is.......

Sedins, are first ballot HHOF.

I hated them a lot during their career.

Class players.

Tuff to say.

Some want the coach gone, I am inclined to agree, but only if there is a better option available. There are lots of people that think Gulutzan is a smart hockey mind. I look at the Jets and at the end of last season people were calling for Maurice's head......now they aren't.

They need right side scoring, and also need to launch Brouwer into the sun. Thankfully, with Lucic in Alberta, Brouwer's contract isn't the worst.

The team had chunks of the season when they were the best team in the league, and chunks when they were far and away the second worst team (thank you Oilers for holding down the #1 spot).

They has some good D coming through Rasmus and Kulak both looked good against the Oilers the other night (haha suck stupid Oilers).

Another sub 80 point season for the Oilers.

In the last 10 years the Oilers have finished with more then 80 points twice.

In the last 17 years, they've finished in the playoffs 4 times.

The Flames my have fallen on their faces, but the Oilers are professional at being terrible.

In hockey it all starts with how a team controls the 8-10 feet in front of its net (where 70% + of goals are scored). The Flames, the Oilers and the Canucks are all lousy at this aspect of the game. It is not solely the fault of the D-Men; it is wingers who are too slow and centres who play up.

The Flames also have a young Finnish defenceman who the team is high on. Brodie has had a rough year.

And two spots further down that graphic would be Jamie "The new Roenick" Lundmark. Rangers had 2 top 10 picks and blew both of them big time.

The following year we took Lundqvist with the 205th overall pick. Go figure.

Terrific scenes last night. The Sedins played very well.

Because of the way Vegas has played does anyone have any idea what a proper rebuild is anymore?

The Oilers have a cultural problem that starts with management. One hears talk out here how the players are micromanaged: some strange stuff.

Not NHL, but we don't have a hockey thread.

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatche ... -1.4609835
Humboldt Broncos head coach Darcy Haugan has been identified as one of 14 victims who died when their junior hockey team bus collided with another vehicle on Friday.

The RCMP confirmed 14 fatalities and 15 injuries in the collision in Saskatchewan on Friday.

Police say there were 29 people on the bus at the time of the crash, including the driver. Three of the injuries are critical. RCMP is working with partner agencies to notify and support families and has not yet released information about who was killed or injured.
f**king tragic, all these players would be around 17-19ish of age.

Unbelievable news when first heard about it (at the Mavs/Gold 'scrimmage'). I know that area well and it is relatively flat. I read where the bus was t-boned, probably a driver going through a stop. As you know, hornets, the junior hockey teams in these prairie towns and small cities are the latters "pride and joys."

My words are useless, but my deepest condolences to the families of those who are gone, the team and the city.

I laugh when people debate that Sid is the best player in the league. There is not a better all round player in the league. The guy is a f**king machine.

Nice to see the Jets (this incarnation) get a playoff win.
