Pffft. I survived Hurricane Charley in '86. Nothing as bad as that can ever possibly happen again in the history of the world ever.

Not until Monday, so will get golf in on Sunday. It looks like we'll get a right battering in the northwest on Monday though.

It won't be a hurricane or tropical storm by the time it reaches us. By the time it gets north east of the Azores it loses its tropical characteristics and develops fronts .

It will still bring strong winds but not the crazy sustained winds like you see in a hurricane. There will be high gusts but we get that anyway in our winter storms in January

Ophelia is now the tenth consecutive hurricane of the 2017 Atlantic tropical season. Ophelia remains well away from any landmasses at the present time. The hurricane is now packing maximum sustained winds of 85 mph, and could even strengthen a little more through Friday.
Ophelia is currently located around 745 miles southwest of the Azores. The hurricane is moving northeast at about 3 mph. A strong upper-level system currently over the North Atlantic will steer the system in a more northeasterly direction over the next several days, causing it to accelerate as well. This should take the system just south and east of the Azores. The storm may affect the British Isles as an extra-tropical cyclone early next week, bring heavy rain and potentially damaging winds.
An area of disturbed weather located north of Cuba is being caused by the interaction between an upper-level low and a tropical wave. Both features will move westward and bring unsettled weather to the Bahamas and South Florida through Friday and into the upcoming weekend. Strong vertical wind shear and the lack of an actual low-level feature will prevent this system from organizing during the next few days.
No new development is expected across the rest of the Atlantic basin through the rest of this week and through at least the weekend.

Hated Hamlet.

Everyone will call it a hurricane and it is one now but it won't technically be a hurricane by the time it reaches us. Those winds look very damaging mind. There could be some coastal flooding as well.

No, it will be an Extra-Tropical storm by that stage, a very vigorous low pressure coming from an unusual track that will push very warm air for the time of year into southern England on Monday, could see 25 °C somewhere * if the sun breaks through* but a strong breeze too.

I'm at sea every Monday in work
What do you do ER? Is it just a commute or are in the business.

I doubt this little baby will do much. But I have met Michael Fish at a do at BBC broadcasting house.

Before the infamous "don't worry" bit on the telly.

It's not going to be that windy, as you have got the euro set a 1.5k above sea level. Try 3h gusts or mean ensemble winds for a truer picture

If you time it right, you should be able to get a hole in one on a par 5. As soon as you do, run for cover.

Fierce mild here in Belfast, 18° C, apparently.
Very humid, though. I already got caught in one downpour earlier. Feels like it's going to absolutely piss down sometime soon.
