Could be quite windy this weekend for the UK particularly the south east.

For Ireland a lot of rain Saturday into Sunday but no real wind to worry about.

Any thoughts on how Storm Callum will turn out?

National Emergency Coordination Group meeting at 3PM today to see what the craic is from what I can tell.

There are still leaves on trees so that could aid even more than normal falling trees.

I'd say the biggest risk is storm surge along the west coast due to high tides.

As for wind, we've had plenty of these before so orange warning is good enough.

It was really mild when I walked in in the dark this morning. Now it's pissing and I've no jacket. Poxy autumnal weather.

What's the wind to be like tomorrow evening, Íar?

The wind shouldn't be too bad as the storm would have passed up towards Iceland, but there will be a trailing front that will bring very heavy rain tomorrow evening to the east coast.

I'll be flying in on a small plane, so was wondering how bumpy it'll be. Going to miss the first half of Leinster-Wasps :x .

I’m down at the seafront in Strandhill and there’s hardly a ripple on the sea, and it’s a beautiful day. But there are signs of the storm approaching from the southwest with a red haze on the horizon. Supposed to pick up later, with the worst of it gone by 3 or 4 in the morning. Probably be some mad bastards out playing in the Friday Open comp tomorrow morning.

If youse fellas intend to persist with getting hurricanes home-delivered, you should consider having the island towed well to the south so you could at least enjoy warmer termperatures between bouts of life-threatening gales.

Barely a puff of wind in Limerick all night. Granted it was just a yellow wind warning for us but really there shouldn't have been any warning.

We'll get worse storms this winter.

January usually produces the most powerful windstorms due to the airmass over the arctic being sufficiently cold enough aloft .

Perhaps they should have given you your very own specific weather forecast and warning system for your own back garden?
Parts of Mayo experienced winds well over 100kmoh, in fact one gust was measured at 144kmph. Do you think they shouldn't have got the warning either?

There will be rain this afternoon but other than that, that's it.

The thread has been used since to talk about any extreme storms hitting the UK and Ireland.

The original event was also not a non event.

There's plenty of threads to complain about on here, a bit bizarre to complain about one talking about the weather.

I noticed on the way to work too that there was a lot of seaweed and debris up on the grassy parts of the clontarf promenade. The seas must have been wild even at that sheltered part of the bay.

Oh joy. FLight delayed a couple of hours. The afternoon flight was cancelled.

Shitballs. Have a car to collect at the other end and miss the entire Leinster game, unless there's BT in the airport.

get mobdro on your mobile or tablet, bring a charger (my phone is crap and I need to charge it anyway) and watch it using the airport wifi. If you don't have a smart device you are indeed likely fked

High tide at the Bull Wall coincided with the worst of the storm. That area's prone to flooding too
