They will not accept JM's direction. Bulls in for another period of internal destruction.

They need HM back.

Quote:

Rumoured too that the Bulls are prepared to let him go

And replace him with? The Bulls should do their best to keep him.

Bulls would be insane to let him go. He is saying that he can turn it around but he needs to be able to make some changes. Imagine what could happen if he starts signing some really good players back from abroad. confidence would go through the roof and if its marketed properly the crowds would flock back and JM can start winning again.

Imagine Lamby signed to replace Pollard....such a change would be fantastic. And Duane...Duane is an icon......

Less many more contracts - buy proven players and develop younger ones. USE THEM.
Currently they buy a hell of a lot of talent, let them sit on the bench and abuse whoever is playing.

ohn Mitchell has reportedly requested R90 million from the Bulls board to help turn the franchise into a dominant force in Super Rugby again.

According to Netwerk24, Mitchell requested the amount at a recent meeting with the union’s top brass.

The report added that Mitchell was interested in signing luring Springboks Duane Vermeulen (unattached), Schalk Brits (unattached), Frans Malherbe (Stormers), Jean-Luc du Preez (Sharks) and SA under-20 star Wandisile Simelane (Golden Lions) to Pretoria.

It is believed that Mitchell’s request did not go down well with some members of the Bulls board.

Those against it questioned the team’s Super Rugby season in which they finished bottom of the South African Conference and 12th overall after winning just six out of 16 matches.

It was the Bulls' worst ever Super 15 season, having never lost fewer than seven matches in previous 15-team Super Rugby tournaments.

Mitchell recently said he would only sign a contract extension if the Bulls allowed him to buy new players, as he believes the current crop is simply not good enough.

Not quite correct though. Last year the lost 11 games, this year only 10

Titans CEO says 'thanks, but no thanks' to top Bulls job

Titans CEO Jacques Faul on Monday reiterated that he was committed to his role at the cricket franchise.

A report last week indicated that Faul was one of the leading candidates to take over as CEO of the Blue Bulls rugby union.

“I am very happy at the Titans, and also very excited about what we are trying to do as a brand and as an internationally recognised Franchise. To that end, I have no plans to leave the Titans, despite speculation suggesting this,” Faul clarified via a press statement.

JM's comments are simply ridiculous. The players in his squad all come from the same high quality system that the other provinces also draw from. They also have a good club scene, a great stadium and good fans. They have enough senior players like Pollard, Struass and Lood to mentor the youngsters, of which there is also plenty of talent. It seems to me that all they need is a coach to make it all click.

Go and look at the Bulls squad. The majority of their players are the "young talent" and played SA Schools or Junior Boks. Both Nollis and JM shouyld have done a lot better with them than they did

The Bulls ended up not doing much better this season than the previous. But I do think they tried to play better rugby this year. The previous few seasons they were playing dire, boring rugby. Even though they did not win a lot this year, the majority games were watchable for a change. There were some of the games that they were in a great position to actually get a win, just to give it away. A few of their overseas trip games they snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

It seems one of their biggest problems now is their defensive structures, playing well on attack but leaving loads of gaps for the counter in turn.
Maybe they do need a couple of seasons to balance everything out. JM completely changed the way the players play, so maybe it is taking longer for them to adapt after being indoctrinated for 5+ years of boring dull game play. A lot of these players never played any other way since school until JM came around.

But the defense issue seems to a an SA thing this year, I think non of the teams in SA were very defensively sound. Even the lions are leaking a lot of tries, they just managed to claw it back most of the time.

I hope JM stays around, I really think this Bulls team can be a lot more competitive with another season or so under him. Maybe he needs a new defensive coach.

So far the Bulls haven't signed Cyle Brink and Jean-Luc du Preez. Things not going JM's way

Quote:
The Sharks have moved swiftly to tie down star player Jean-Luc du Preez with a new contract amid rumoured transfer interest from the Bulls.

...

But in an interview with The Witness, Sharks communications manager Novashni Chetty confirmed that Du Preez was staying in Durban.

She further said that the youngster has signed a new deal although she could not divulge further details regarding his contract extension.

“Jean-Luc is contracted to the Sharks, he’s actually just re-signed with the franchise, so those rumours that he might leave aren’t true,” she said.

Leave JLDP alone.....If I were the Bulls I would be targetting PSDT .....There is an excess of locks and loose forwards at Newlands and he would make a huge impact for the Bulls.......

Bulls need a dominant 7 flanker. Their purchases always get injured or sidelined (meaning they are not paid enough/ looked after well enough)

Seems Mitchell is gone

Quote:
Former All Black coach John Mitchell WILL return to the England fold by next month. Mitchell’s departure from the Bulls is a ‘done deal’.

rugby365 can confirm that the Blue Bulls Company is already ‘shopping around’ for a new Super Rugby coach.

England wants Mitchell to report for duty by next month.

Quote:
ugby365 can now reveal that calls have already gone out to the agents of some of South Africa’s leading coaches.

A source close to the Pretoria-based franchise told this website that those calls would not have gone out if Mitchell was not departing.

The leading candidates – or at least the names at the top of the Bulls’ wishlist – include Springbok legends Fourie du Preez and Victor Matfield, both World Cup winners and long-time Bulls servants.

Other names on the ‘wanted’ list include Jimmy Stonehouse and John Dobson.

The latest Bulls coaching wishlist [of coaches to be invited for interviews]:

Head coach: John Dobson (Western Province); Jimmy Stonehouse (Pumas); Swys de Bruin; Ewe McKenzie (Australia)
Attack and Backs: Dawie Snyman (WP); Fourie du Preez (Bulls)
Forwards: Victor Matfield (Bulls), Daan Human (Cheetahs), Jaco Pienaar (Sharks)
Defence: Johan Laker (WP); Norman Laker (WP); Paul Treu Stormers)

Bulls probably add JW, AC and PDivvy to the list as well

None of those coaches could win Sup Rugby with the Bulls.
