The answer’s clearly Italy regardless of the specifics to be fair.

I was in Suncorp Stadium for Australia v England in 1997

The Kiwis in the RLWC.

Ireland: 60-0.

The worst on average? Italy.

The worst one off performance? Hard to say as a teams ineptness might be exasperated by the opposition playing well. Ireland's 60-0 drubbing by the All Blacks and the recent Springbok loss of 57-0 are two such examples.

From the real tier 1 which is all RWC Finalists: Aus, Eng, Fra, NZ, SA

England in 1998

I've seen some pretty shit French B teams touring NZ in both 99 (last test at Athletic Park) and in 07, of course that was just part of their plans to ambush NZ at the RWC the f'king garlic munching gallic plums.

From that list though, the worst team I've actually seen was Argentina in about 96/97 - they almost conceded 100 and the AB's were just taking the piss with (I think) Robin Brooke throwing an American football style pass 30m across field for a try.

That 57-0 was amazing. More perfect rugby from NZ rather than an inept Springbok side though. Same with the 1998 76-0 humping Australia gave England. It was an England B-Side and an Australian side that was becoming one of the greatest ever.

That was still a great year to be in NZ following the fortunes of the kiwi national team.

Australia in the first half of this years Sydney Bledisloe. Never seen a team so reluctant to tackle.

England failing to progress past the group stage at the 2015 world cup in England was the worst ever result for a tier 1 side and the biggest choke in world rugby.

Us shipping 93 points to SA will take some beating.

And in terms of consistently embarrassing, we have a good 30 year stretch to about the Henry-era to fall back on.

France, however, are giving us a run for our money. All that population. All that wealth. And all those results.

Ireland and wales in the 90s, but you couldn't really consider them tier 1 teams at the time.

The 60-0 game came a week after one of Ireland's best ever performances.

Italy for consistency but they have beaten all the other tier 1 sides in the poll at least once.

Georgia has yet to beat any Tier 1 side

Italy. I kind of liked them when I first got into the sport only to find out how pathetically the game is run there.

Worst when? The 0-76 England team against Australia in '98 was pretty shit.

I was at the 0-36 game against SA in 2007, which was such an utterly poor performance.

If you mean over a long period then the SA 2001-2002 team was pretty f**king god awful (possibly worse than the current lot).

When accounting for the available talent its obviously SA.

I don’t consider any of the options as tier 1

Totally utterly pants. Talent available was average [it really was people were getting excited about Ryan Lamb back then FFS], coaching was poor, selection was dreadful even considering the talent available.

One of Argentina's backs had a heart attack after that match

It was ROUGH for them

Though my life and from those teams I'd go ahead and pick the 1999 Italian team, terrible team. They conceded 101 points twice, played nine games and lost them all, conceded an average of 61 points a game while scoring only 15.

ABs '98. Harto lost it. This much vaunted coach took a great team to serial losers in less than a year. For f**king shame.

The Bok 50-odd point loss to England really hurt me.
I wasn't paying enough attention to their performance up to then so still thought we were up there in quality.

The reality still burns like fire.

The 57 - 0 was horrible but I still think we played (much) worse, collectively, against England, even taking the red card into account.
