Except 6 Nation viewing figures are far higher then tests with All Blacks.

The All Blacks are an Australian obsession, maybe a saffer one as well, but not a Northern Hemisphere obsession. When the 6 Nations is on all teams want to win it. No one cares about anyone else not involved. I'd also say given the decline in SH rugby and the greater interest and viewerships of NH rugby your point is bunk. People aren't that interested in matching the ABs like you imply.
Bluntly disagree with this post. The AB aren't an "Australian obsession", they're the freakin neighbor and happen to be the best side historically, so they're a big challenge with lots of history, but between two nations that have had no real beef outside the sport. The Welsh or Irish or Scots playing England, now that's when your 'obsessive' comes in. And the only reason the 6N are such a hit is merely because that's the good people's domestic tournament, it's been there forever and it's deeply rooted in those countries' tradition - half of that public doesn't know shit about current world Rugby, they don't know who Sam Whitelock or R.Ioane are but they do know the boys in white are the ones they need to focus all their anger on. But if you're suggesting collaterally that say, Ireland, wouldn't prefer to beat the All-Blacks to beating England, then it's clear there's an issue with this argument here.

And up til recently, the greatest fixture in France was absolutely the All-Blacks, a French fan would eaaaasily rather attend/watch that than another fkng Fra v Eng/Fra v Wal 6N game, there's so much more flavor, fun, stake, legend and potential for magic about the first. Now the national team is too bad for that lol, and the people would rather watch France play Wales. :D

Everyone recognises the ABs are great and beating them is a big win. But besides that no one actually cares about them. As you say the local rivalries are what gets fans engaged and 6 Nations silverware is the goal every year and the viewing figures show that.

Nah. CrazyIslander is a bluffer. I realised that when he started raving about the huge hits SBW put in on Farrell during the Lions test where SBW was sent off. Turns out he never got anywhere near tackling Faz at all.

Which is the same championship, the 6 Nations is only it's modern title. We don't discount a championship as different when title sponsors change, it's no different to when we add a team, exempting weak attempts at pedantry.

Wow, very defensive.

You don't see any difference between a championship that was originally an internal competion of the UK to one that now includes the best teams in Europe?
Or that two of the teams that are now members of the 6 nations did not even have a national team at the time of Home nations championship creation?

Fair enough.

I not said there isn't any differece. I've said it's the same championship. The Rugby world cup has more teams now then in 1987, including countries like Georgia who didn't have a national side back then as they weren't independent. It is still the same Rugby World Cup, it is not a different championship.

Originally it was a domestic championship and it became a European championship, for me thats a pretty big difference and not sure how it can really be seen as the same.

I was thinking you know the French national team probably need to change their national anthem to...Friday, by Rebecca Black. If you're going to be ridiculous, obviously, go all the way, it's just a natural law of the universe. Mm no wait not realistic, a song in english...ok just translate it, no wait, too many syllables in french on that chorus doesn't work.. alright fine, that Mario Bros underground theme ?.. Yeah. Scotland is on a hiding to nothing now. Everyone has injuries, but Scotland's are concentrated and having only two pro clubs, we just do not have the depth most others have to call on.

The front row is in tatters. Best three tightheads gone, best three looseheads gone, second and third hookers gone. Whilst there is still the firepower elsewhere (though injuries are leaving us thin elsewhere as well) to trouble many teams, if the front row is getting dicked than it is game over.

How close to full strength will you actually be by the time it kicks off? Will you get players back during the tournament?

Pfft...this is an injury list!

Jonathan Davies
Sam Warburton
Taulupe Faletau
Jake Ball
Dan Lydiate
Ross Moriarty
Ollie Griffiths
Dan Baker
Liam Williams
George North
Hallam Amos

Granted, a whole lot of them are backrowers, but it does mean we'll be strumming the depths once again when fielding our backrow..and that's our entire starting back 3 out as well.

CI will normally be going out of his way to slag the ABs but in this case he's going for the angle that because they are in the RC that oz is involved in a superior comp. The truth is it's absolutely rubbish at the moment but even at it's best I don't think anyone really gives two shites about the trophy itself, the Bled has way more feeling. The rest is just home and away test matches tied into a points based tourney.

The six nations is really coming to it's best moment ever now, it's a shame France haven't come to the party yet. The home nations are creating matches of the round every week and if France was up there too it would make for a very hard tournament to call. Rivalries everywhere. Italy still threaten the odd scalp which I think is as much as they can hope for. Anyhoo, a great turnaround given the disappointing results for the NH in the last RWC.

Still no comparison in game quality with the glory days of the trip nations. sniff.
