In this thread, I will do nothing but post a single picture from The Simpsons every day, reminding you why the show used to be the best in the world.

Seasons 2 through 10 were among the funniest and wittiest television shows ever created. I cannot remember a f**king thing from years in school but I can pretty much recite entire episodes of these seasons.

Lionel Hutz really was one of the best characters in television history.

My favorite line is Homer in the car driving past a hitchhiker holding a sign of where he wants to go

"They should get a pole for that sign"

Something like that

Know what you mean about reciting quotes. My favourite Hutz one was where he was watching a courtroom drama on tv: "Oh sure, like lawyers have secretaries and work in skyscrapers, look at him! he's wearing a belt! That's Holywood for you..."

How about post a pic and have someone else add the line that goes with it?

Isn't it more, "stop, stop, he's already dead"?[/[pedant]

Lot of cracking moments in that episode too:

"These are speedholes, they make the car go faster"

"Look at this swell bucket of paint. Look at it!"

And my personal favourite "I told you we should have brought more than three bullets".

Quote:
Before he took over Late Night in the fall of 1993, Conan O’Brien spent two years as a writer and producer on The Simpsons. And for the latest episode of his Web series “Serious Jibber-Jabber,” O’Brien reunited with four of the original writers of the show—Al Jean, Jeff Martin, Jay Kogen, and Mike Reiss—to reminisce and to discuss the evolution of the beloved family from Springfield.

The five guys talk about their early doubts about whether a prime-time animated series could work; Dan Castellanta’s less-than-successful early attempts to channel Walter Matthau via Homer; Conan’s flamboyant performance antics in the writers’ room; and much more.

The round-table conversation runs just under 90 minutes and manages to stay interesting throughout. A must-watch for any Simpsons die-hard.
