was never the case, we have always had what was needed, it was juts a policy from the clubs... which killed our rugby.

Must say the Welsh lad who reffed a couple of England games is very good for this level.

Well done France. Controlled the game well, BBs had no answer. Now win the final, if you've got anything left in the tank.

We will all hear from them regularly in the future ... if they stay healthy ... very impressive amongst many exceptionally talented players ...

I was thinking of sidling up to Bambi for an arm-wrestle contest, but just thought "Nah !" ... He's young and it might affect, etc ... ;)

this evening they were the better team, they showed a lot of things that the EDF senior A team haven't shown for years: passes, guts, ambition, team spirit etc. Too bad all of this will stop as soon as they spend a couple years with some Top14 clubs or with the morons in charge of the FFR.

Noticed that Japan has a few Polynesian names in the squad. (Nicholas Hohua, Asipeli Moala, Sioeli Vakalahi, Halatoa Vailea, Siosala Fifita)

They scholarship kids or maybe sons of pros who settled?

I knew there was nothing in it as the French in control of the broadcast pictures would still be replaying it now.
They replayed nothing. Including the NZ incident at that ruck which merited at least a look.
The TMO looked at it and told the ref it was shoulder and just a penalty. They didn't show the replays he looking at.
Different incident as there was no penalty given.

Yeah, but that would take someone in the team set-up thinking.
Not much of that from NZ tonight.
Did anyone think they should've kicked the penalty in front (albeit 40m) with 2 minutes to go and take the kickoff with a chance to win? The time it was going to take to score a try was always going to end the game.
Yes, I was screaming for them to do that..... Make it a one score game at any opportunity, that puts the pressure on

Nicholas is definitely a scholarship player, from Auckland, going to University up in Hokkaido, but has not been well treated at this tournament.

They are all Kiwis as opposed to Islanders at birth

The others I believe scholarships, but cannot say 100%

Helluva performance by French side excellent at set piece and in their phase play, some real talent in that side, NZ showed good character not to be rolled by more to be honest.

The young ‘Frenchman’ interviewed on World Rugby’s FB page post match was quite amusing aided by having a very Irish sounding accent!

I noticed on twatter that all the most vocal AB critics post the weekend have been extolling the referees performance in the semi.

The ref could've been 16th man for the Baby Blacks and France would've still won.

This.

Such a shame to see raw talent transformed into brainless, bosh merchants...

Still. A good result for a group this group of lads that have been togethther for 3/4 years now.

The rematch of the "Baby Le Crunch" against the English in Béziers should be good.

That has always been true. I can recall 2 exceptional Fre grade teams and many of the players became intls (most became club pros) but usual story of
- converted to bosh
- too much rugby
- poor fitness levels

FWIW, the first 40 mins of Fra v SA was the best exhibition of rugby I've ever seen at this level by anyone.

This stat shows that those blaming the Top14's foreign imports on the lack of French youth appearances in France and the decline of the French national team are absolutely clueless:

"Of the France U20 23 today 18 played senior pro rugby for their clubs this season, between them 175 matches, 81 starts, 7223 minutes. Easily the most of any side in the comp. By comparison NZ U20 had 11 who played ITM Cup rugby, between them 48 matches, 23 starts, 2219 minutes."

Or are clued up to know that recently France has taken measures to change this and your stats are baloney. A squad of 30 french men with Irish and Islander accents ( That in itself is  ) isn't going to be an overall reflection of a league over 600-700 players.

Also this is an exceptional French youth team and not a great (by their standards) NZ side. A one off measure that sin't even representative of the leagues is not a trend.
