When that album came out I was living in a 7 bedroom flat in which 5 of 7 flatmates were YUGE Beastie Boy fans. And that album stoked their Beastie love to ridiculous levels, meaning I literally had to hear every single Beasties album every day (sometimes more than once) for the full six months the flat lasted. At one stage after being awoken by the Beastie Boys at about 8:30 am on a Sunday morning I walked downstairs, opened the CD player and flung the offending CD over the garden fence and threatened bodily harm to the next motherfudger who tried that shit again.

I didn't mind them previously, but since then - and it was over 20 years ago now - I have an instinctive aversion to them and literally can't listen to an entire song.

as a kid, loved this video - we had a mates 21st bday party where we were all done up like 70's yank cops, and all the girls were done up like sexy cops or Ho's. Was a fab night, and those that know me for real life on facebook can see the pics.
Memories of the time somewhat tempered by the fact the mate was killed in a motorbike accident the following week, before most people had developed the film in the cameras (this was pre digital) :((

they are worth owning - just not if you get drunk, have a row with your bird, decide to 'borrow' your older brothers 750cc instead of your 150cc, roar off into the distance (where that distance is about 400m under constant acceleration, straight into a lampost) and the first people on the scene are your bird & mates worried sick you will do something daft.

I saw what was left of the bike - was not very much.

the chap was a week away from going to Hendon to be a cop, so should really have known better - not that that made it any easier for anyone to take of course.

When you see various tits on the A303 driving a insane speeds I tend to have little sympathy with them when you hear about one wrapping himself around a tree or cartwheeling 200m into a field.

And I'd like to apologize to the residents of Napier,NZs "Shortland St" and "Hooker Ave" whose street signs went missing in the late 90s and mysteriously reappeared in a mates Massey Uni flat in Palmy North. :?
