What are you chasing this year?

Want to get on top of my mental health, it's been f**king me up for a few years now and I'm pretty over it. Some career/life stability would be super.

Going to be getting married, so hopefully that all turns out okay.

The usual finally get in shape stuff. Related, would like to do a sub-3:30 marathon.

See if I can track down one of these Katayama shearlings. Some Guidi backzips too.

I want to keep living healthier, which basically means continuing to eat well and undertake regular, moderate exercise.

Workwise, I have taken on a new challenge which will be testing, but could be very rewarding if I am successful. Family-wise we're on the move again so a new town for everyone to settle into. I'm a little nervous but also very excited heading into 2018.

I want to upset less pedants.

In no particular order

1. Drop the 20kgs I've put on over the last 3 years
2. Compete in the Taupo Cycle Challenge with my Dad
3. Stop being a generally miserable wit kant - I don't think I'm a real bastard to others, just unhappy with myself
4. Get down to Christchurch to see my oldest, best friend. Get over to Hong Kong to visit my other best friend
5. Buy/build a house
6. Focus on and grow the procurement and private job i.e. non-local government or company side of the business

A lot of those things are related. Strangely enough, mental health tends to improve with age — although it's not a reason for inaction about it.

1. Get myself back on the Nursing Register.
2. Buy/obtain three more properties
3. Build my Avon business to cashflow 2K a month
4. Develop 5000 online Avon customers

Finish at least one cryptic crossword a week
Start learning Italian.

I've dropped nearly 20lbs in the last two months so will to continue with that good work.

I'm enjoying being back in education, having worked in a museum and at a university the last few years, but am make peanuts and so am hoping this experience gets me into a better paying gig that will allow me to clear the last of my student loans (could do now, actually) and start saving for a house.

If I end up back in my home region, some friends and I have talked about starting a coaching revolution to make ours the strongest in the province (at the youth level, anyway... job situation means a lot move away for school / as adults).

Not sure if it'll happen this year, but am also planning a tattoo sleeve.

Congrats both, remember to not actually retire as the boredom is a killer.

1) Starting a new job in February, in theory it’s everything I’ve been looking for for the past few years, so need to work hard and make sure I impress early-on.

2) Use all of my holiday; have never used it all and could do with spending more time with Mrs J while we’re still in our decent earnings/pre-kids stage.

3) Get my black belt in Judo

4) Raise some money for a homeless charity and buy the Big Issue more often; it seems to be an increasing problem around here and it’d be good to do something to help rather than just moaning about beggars etc.

Probably will be a weird year with friends having babies and getting married. Have the idea of proposing in May but might not be the right time.

Want to travel some more. Have trips to South Africa, Morocco and Germany lined up for the first half of the year.

Get on the property ladder.

Cycle a 200km, and 3 other sportives during the year.

Working on a big-ish project in work due for presentation in October so it will be great to finish that up.

Finishing the project may mean the closing of an avenue in work, so hopefully will find a better role.

Should be easy.

Get a sub 7 minute 2000m score

Do some exercise. Any exercise. My problem is I hate all forms of exercise where you are aware you're exercising. It's why rugby was great, you got through a shedload of work but it was a means to an end, not the be all and end all.

Not get so angry at things that don't matter.

Turn over a new leaf on the job front and make the new one my own. May well involve relocating so exploring a new area would be up there. Get fitter, play more rugby. Seems relatively achievable.
