Through to the final of the world championship in his last ever tournament. He is also favourite as the fat bald fella got dumped in the other semi final.

Did you see the MvG semi last night? Last few sets were quality.
I was hoping Anderson would knock Taylor out But u fortunately we'll see him waddle around the stage tomorrow using every form of bad sportsmanship and gamesmanship to grind down Cross.
Was really hoping Lewis would beat Taylor but he didn't have the bottle/experience to take all those chances at doubles.

There's an element of me which is excited that the old fella might bow out with a world championship win. Even if he doesn't going out in the final seems just right for the sports greatest player. I know he's a bit of a shit but he's like the that old git down the pub who actually becomes a sporting great. It's why I love Ronnie O'Sullivan.

I think he'll hang on for another year and stink up the PDC tour while Sky fawn over him for another 12 months if he wins tomorrow.

Nah he's a bit egotistical, he'll want to leave on a high.

That other semi last night with MVG was bonkers. It was Van Gerwen's fault though. 11 match darts, he missed them all. For him, that's a complete 1 off.

Taylor will win the final now. Lewis the young welsh lad gave a great account of himself against Taylor though and if he had a bit more composure in big matches, he would have won the match I've no doubt.

Taylor in his prime is the greatest darts player I've ever seen and we'll ever see. The only way I could describe him back in the late 90s early 00s, was an animal. He's just an animal to face or he was.

Have to laugh, I've watched a couple of his interviews recently, and there's definitely a bit of the Grandads about him...I get the feeling he's moments away from saying something outrageously sexist/racist.

Would agree with the sentiments already expressed regarding the young Welshman. Had more than enough opportunities to bury Taylor, but the arse fell out of his game on those doubles. Shame, but anyone who can consistently maintain a 100+ average across multiple matches must have a decent future ahead of them.

Off a quick glance I'm a bit shocked that no other darts player has ever won more then 5 world championships in either of the main bodies. That makes Taylor's 16 (so far) quite exceptional, miles in front.

The PDC has only been going 24 years and Taylor has won 16 titles so it's not hard to see why no one else in the PDC has won 5 or more. As for the BDO Barney would probably have had closer to 10 titles if he hadn't switched to the PDC

Together with Eddie Hall's achievements surely this makes Stoke the sporting capital of the World?

Hasn't Taylor only won 14 from the PDC? Taylor's 16 includes 2 from the other darts body which is 40 years old and no one in Taylor's absence seems as consistent. And from what I see players only appear to play one or the other even if they will play both at some point in their careers. I suppose it's still a young event relatively so fair enough.

Convicted sex offender the marquee name of their retirement circuit- they know their market with the rowdy piss heads who attend I guess.

I can’t wait until the World Championships starts at the home of darts Lakeside, with a welcoming family atmosphere.

What's the story with the sex pest thing?

Hope Cross can make a match of it tonight - you'd think MvG was more likely to take out Taylor, but who knows....

All I get from wiki is some drunk women came back to his caravan, then he was done for groping. He denies it happened like that though. he got a £2k fine.

As a matter of interest, have you actually ever been at the Lakeside? I have... "welcoming family atmosphere" it certainly isn't.

Here we go then... the final is minutes away.

Sky Sports 1 to watch. :D

Taylor in a 3 or 4 leg win.

3 of 4 set win I assume you mean.
I agree. 7-2 or 7-3

Cross looks like he has consistent scoring power.

Should be interesting to see how Taylor adapts to that.

If I was him, I might slow up the rhythm of the game just to put them off.

He always does that. He does stuff like delaying taking his darts out of the board by a split second or "accidentally" shuffling into the other player's line of sight.
He's never held to account for any of this though. If anyone else did it to him though, he'd be smack-talking after the match.

Regarding Cross and scoring rate though, as Bobby George used to say:
"Trebles for show, doubles for dough"

Of course I have, any sports fan should aim to get there in their lifetime. It's like a Lions Tour, the Monaco GP, the Super Bowl..you have to do it in your lifetime. You never hear the MC asking for respect for the players at Lakeside like apparently happened during the Taylor/Lewis exhibition.

I see that Sex Pest Phil's final opposition tonight is Rob Cross, who couldn't even qualify for the World Championships last year at the cauldron of darts at Lakeside.

Yep.

It's the dark arts of the sport, a bit like rugby though, you just can't have every player playing like Vincent Van Der Voort.

Cross 1-0 Taylor

Taylor broken due to a poor finish and Cross mopping up. 13 and 11 dart legs for Cross. Great going for the lad.

2014. The Bullet won the tournament before retiring to the PDC. Unfortunately I couldn't get tickets to the final such was the demand but I was fortunate to get to Days 5 and 6 of the action. I'll try and find a couple of banking transactions to prove it to you, I'll print, frame and scan them up here for all to see. I drank two pints of ale on both days as I was there for the sport like everyone else there.

Why would I mate, you just asked me there so I answered in the affirmative. I've been to plenty of sporting events over the years, I don't document them. You seem really upset that I would go to a sporting event, it's very strange how upset you get over this PDC business.
