Rugby players on coke and PEDS?

Not that shocking.

I'm so glad the OP capitalised the second word of the thread title...

In a similar vein, didn't some septic get flamed by his compatriots for tweeting 'all blacks are destroying USA' when the ABs played the Eagles a few years ago..?

Excuse but what is the point of getting to the top and if you can't do drugs like that. Not All the time but occasionally. It like the whole Aaron Smith thing or when complained about Michael Phelps smoking weed, like if you can do that and still be one of the top players in your sport, fair play to you.

Coke sure, PEDS don't know.

It's almost certainly true, and for the reasons outlined.

He’s lived in Europe forever now, does he have any idea how hard it is to get coke in NZ? Believe me, it’s hard.

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if they indulged in places where it’s more readily available.

But I’m not sure how seriously we can take all of EFS’ - Mister “Nigel Owens is racist because he penalised Samoa”, “The All Blacks are Nazis”, “the IRB are basically Hitler” - statements

He does good work in Samoa but he can be a bit of an idiot. At the 2011 RWC he likened a 3 day turn around in scheduling of the world cup to slavery, the holocaust and apartheid.

The only reason I would doubt it is because coke was never massively available in NZ - you could get it if you really wanted, but it took a lot of effort (and the more effort it takes to get drugs, the more likely you are going to be exposed by someone). Maybe that has changed (or maybe it's just more readily available in certain circles)?

I have no doubt that if it was as available as it is in Oz or the UK, there would be plenty of NZ super rugby players partaking.

So that's where Hardie got into the habit.

Note, never confirmed it was cocaine, and he never failed a drug test, but he was suspended for 3 months for gross misconduct.

From the party central, bright lights of Invercargill to the quaint and innocent hamlet of Trainspotting-town, eh?

It really isn't an easy drug to get in NZ. Hence the fact you get NZ sportsmen getting caught doing stupid shit with energy drinks and prescription pills and not with coke.

Drug testing at the international level must be poor if we are to believe his other comment that players have been under the influence during tests.

When you've got disposable cash I imagine it's as hard to get as in Aus. Also ABs aren't in NZ the whole year.

Wonder if this is the stuff Gatland knew about, I've always questioned AB fitness and how in the last quarter have more in the tank, this sheds some light.
Could be the tip of the iceburg.

Good point. EFS never said where these coke fueled tests took place. Could have been Paris or London. Guess the NZRU won't be suing.

There's 46 players involved in a test match, most if not all will not be tested then and there.

The Lions dominated the final stages of all three tests.

It's not hard to get in Aus. At all. It is hard to get in NZ.

They might do it on tour, but that seems even more fraught.

I don't doubt that plenty of them would do it, but it would surprise me if plenty of them DO do it. PEDs on the other hand...

Mike King bought a travel agency and took tour groups overseas to feed his addiction which tells you something about its availability here.

EFS has always been an obnoxious moron on twitter, he'll lie like he did on Campbell live during the 2011 rwc if pressed for evidence.

Surprised to hear how difficult it is to get in NZ considering the amount of Kiwis I know who are into that shit.

The slimming effects of P/meth addiction might have been more useful for a player of your proportions.

It's one of those things that (particularly young) kiwis go nuts on overseas, precisely because we don't get it in NZ. I know loads of people who will head to Oz for a bender and have pre-sourced themselves some blow.

Made the mistake of taking a few swigs of a muscle-headed team mates 'pre-workout formula' prior to a match once - pretty much all of those symptoms ensued and funnily enough none of them were conducive to playing good rugby.

While E.P.S is a raving attention whore and full of hyperbole and bluster, wouldn't surprise me if an All Black or two had indulged in a bit marching powder on the EOYT (as mentioned NZ's isolation makes it difficult to source).

Interested in sampling this high fat beer he talks about - having cut beer due to it's sugar content in an effort to drop a couple of kg's some tasty ketogenic lager would be a god send!

Coke is pretty easy to get in nz these days. The number of coke busts in the last year gives a pretty good indication of the amount that's getting through. I don't know if the cartels are targeting nz more or there's just more guys tinkering on the DNM but it's definitely readily available where it was pretty impossible only a couple of years ago.

I don't know about the popularity of coke among nz super rugby players but mdma is very popular. My brother had a shared birthday party with an AB last year and going in to the toilets was a real eye opener.
