Better coached, yes certainly. But it remains to be seen how good Townsend really is. If he loses this match, against a rookie France side at home...he'll lose tons of credit in just one weekend.
Did you not say Scotland should have held on to cotter?

seriously, the only question on this game is the amount of whinge we will get from the scots (fellow celts like the green whingers).

as said, our plan is probably to reduce them as much as possible into a thin purée of Haggis, and then to kick that sheep belly between the posts from anywhere.

looks a perfect rugby game plan for a perfect winter afternoon in scotland.

then of course, the scots of now are not anymore the fiercy ones of the auld alliance, and we'll surely receive some stick from the semi-londoners wanabees they've become, for having walked on their lads on the field.

But so is the rugby world now...

I love all the hype about the game coming tomorrow.
People here are more interested in talking about a guy whose rectum fell out.

I think it's a testament from a french perspective of two things:
- the fans are bored (without knowing it) of having the shittiest coaches in world Rugby every single time. They think the problem is elsewhere, but as always in France the chronic failure to identify the cause.

- Second: they're too hung up on hating the bad man and professing their sworn allegiance with the good man to even care about supporting the damn national team anymore. Like I don't give a shit; I was optimistic as hell when Noves/Dubois came just to look forward to someone else than PSA/Lagisquet, and I'm optimistic with Brunel now, I have no sides except the xv de France. But that is not the overwhelming reality in France.

The Scots I think are just quietly terrified of losing this at home lol and hope to make nice with the gods before the game but will ejaculate everywhere on the forum if they get the win.

I have an other option :
Scots don't have the internet and frenchs are too drunk to use it !

But we could have some other countries contributions..

France to win this one fairly comfortably - I thought their defence looked good last week - just need to cut out some of the headless penalties

Quietly terrified of losing at home? After last week, hell yes.

Ejaculating all over the forum? Unlikely. We are painfully aware of how ephemeral success generally is for us and we tend to keep our celebration low-key.

We put 50 on Australia a few months back and I don’t think we were over the top about it.

What does Yonel mean?

Says something about French depth when you can bring in Picamoles FFS

Having said that Gourdon is a handy player and had a good game v us last year so you'll miss him

For us, really don't think we'll be as bad this weekend (saying that with 25% hope, 75% expectation) but it all depends on our selection in the back row and centres. Get those right and I'll back us to win.

Shouldn't be playing.

Not for Scotland.
Not on merit.
Not with his stampy feet.

The team is poorer for his presence in my opinion.

Berghan is probably our 3rd choice THP, behind the injured WP Nel and Zander Fagerson. He missed last week because it was the last week of ban for kicking the Glasgow Hooker in the head in a Pro14 match in December.

I would have him in as he is the best player available to us in his position.

Yes, especially that pack. Vastly superior athletes to France's, but hopefully France can transcend that overwhelming divide.

France lost some serious talent in the first game- esp Gourdon.

Will be an interesting game- Scotland need to stop Slimani disrupting their platform.

We will not be able to do that, just don't have the players. We can only limit the damage

For a long time was a very poor scrummager imo, but active in the loose. Some incredible brainfarts though with taking the ball from in front of the ruck.

Had some decent scrummaging form last two years, but has been out for a while this season - no telling what form he is in.
