I don't think Ramaposa will take over as president. Parliament has to vote in a new president, and I think the ANC will nominate a woman as a candidate to serve as president of the republic until 2019 elections. I think if Ramaposa takes over right away, he will not be able to stand for the 2023 election.

Have you got a new strain in? Lesotho hybrid or something?

It very much is set in stone. You can't have the president of the ANC and another president from the structure. Jy is fokken gerook.

All professinal political pundits that I have heard seem to think Cyril will be appointed as caretaker pres, before being elected as PORSA.

Have you heard of Kgalema Motlanthe?

There will have an interim president until 2019 elections. Either Sisulu or Mbete. Parliament can elect any of its members to be the president of South Africa.

Zuma presidency says no media briefing, fake news.
No communication issued

The media is advised that no official communication has been issued by the Presidency on a media briefing today by President Jacob Zuma as reported by media houses. http://bit.ly/2nY2stM

9:13 AM - Feb 14, 2018
Yet : A copy of the email giving notice of the briefing is also displayed. More Zuma games ...

Jacob has probably put a bet on, saying he will be there the weekend, at least.

Waiting for news from Russia/Rosatom, no doubt....

It will be CR.
“No person may hold office as President for more than two terms‚ but when a person is elected to fill a vacancy in the office of President‚ the period between that election and the next election of a President is not regarded as a term.

I was thinking this, it would be the same situation as Kgaleme Motlanthe and Ramaphosa will put a loyalist in there to see out the year. I know the term is renewable only once, so I guess they previously did this to dodge any constitutional issues. Unless they've closed that up but I had a look at that section of the constitution and my head hurt.

The other option is to let the Speaker (Baleka Mbete) fulfil the duty as is her duty until a president is elected (which can only happen after the next elections, too).
She is a declared CR loyalist, is a woman and has her own presidential aspirations.

This is one helluva day for the Zumas.

Big daddy Jay-Zee is under enormous pressure to resign as prez of Mzanzi.

His beloved son is arrested, alongside 2 of 3 brothers who made the Zumas and themselves stinking rich.

ANC admitting they will have to join in on the EFF's motion of no confidence

Now if the opposition parties really want to throw a spanner in the works, they could vote against it. That might put some extra pressure on the ANC

I think a motion of no confidence could be a better outcome for the country.
A m.o.n.c. passed means the whole cabinet needs to resign. (102 (2))
This will conveniently get of all the dead wood without CR needing to tread on any toes.
