There’s cold and then there’s Irish cold.

I’ve had Poles and Lithuanians complaining about it, you won’t hear the Finns complain unless you speak dolphin but I’m sure they’re feeling it too.

It’s our secret weapon against the Welsh tomorrow.

They're not adapted to life .. outside :D

It's similar in the UK and I've heard Pols say the same thing here. And I think Ireland weather is much worse than London weather.

I'm convinced its the humidity; when it's cold, the extra moisture in the air just leeches the heat out of your body, & it feels sooooo much colder.

The team is pretty much made up of West Walians tomorrow. It's the same shitty pissy crappy weather that you get. Unlucky.

No internationals in Wales this weekend, though.

But if they play outdoors in Wales, in winter - they'll be used to the cold. :P

I do recall Ireland freezing to death in Wellington trying to play so they ain't so hardy really.

I remember Ollie Campbell telling several of us that the coldest day he ever experienced on a rugby pitch was the 3rd test in Dunedin in 1983 Lions tour.

I used have a photo of Seamus Oliver Campbell with his jersey sleeves rolled down over his hands during that game.

If memory serves, watching the game the rain was falling as hail stones at one point in that game, via the Antarctic.

What a picture if you can find it.

Every back I knew outside 10 wore their sleeves like that, freezing their knuckles off waiting for the ball. :P

Different times.

This one?

Basically Scott Williams lines BOD up for a late hit and perfectly smashes him, BOD completes the pass takes the hit and has the wind knocked out of him but continues the game otherwise unscathed.

Williams however is fooked as the impact with BOD has shattered his shoulder. Lolz. :)

The coldest I have ever been at a rugby game was at Rodney Parade watching Munster play Newport. Never witnessed such a quiet shivering crowd.

1 or 2 degrees is worse than 10 below. It's the dampness in the air that is so bad in above zero cold. Once it gets below about minus three then it's actually so much more comfortable. There is no humidity as it's all frozen and everything is crisp and fresh.

-9 today and just about to go for a run. Much nicer than in the prefrozen autumn cold which is pretty much the same as an Irish winter I guess.

Just cycled in at 7.15 in subzero to an early out of hours shift. Bald head + cycle helmet = brain freeze. Thank god I'm not simian and cast in brass.

I've been to a few frozen matches around Rodney, I think it was the one against the Ospreys one year where the joints in my fingers began to hurt it was so cold. I've just been outside to put out the plastics and it was fairly brisk supposed to have felt like -6 but I think it was OK.

I once broke a 5 iron shaft playing on a frozen course in Tregaron - it made a lovely melodic sound as it clattered on to the tundra.

That photo is fitzy getting wedged by Dalton.

I know that stored in my parents attic there is my complete collection of rugby world magazine circa 1978-1990.

Murrayfield is going to be brutal cold at 1830 this evening. Double thermals and double down jacket for me!

I remember a match played in the Fens. Wind and sleet from Siberia. My goodness was that cold!

I had ice on my jersey as the forwards decided to keep together for warmth. I never saw the ball after the kick off.

One of them got scalded in the concrete bath and had to be taken to hospital.

We agreed to not bother with the last half hour.
