Might be receiving a long ban for that today.

2 red card tackles in 30 seconds or so. x(

That’s the first time I’ve seen them.

Individually awful, but within 30 seconds of each other??

Had something happened earlier involving him, to try and give some context?

I don't think so Macc. We know he's a volatile bloke with some of the stories in the past but nothing in that game.

Mind you if you read some of the comments, one of them does state Wasps think it was Quins fault (a player said something to set him off etc). Could be bullshit though.

Not sure that the first on Jism was worth a red, but the second on Smith is as clear as can be. I've never rated Eastmond and this shows why he was never international quality - he's not got the temperament.

Did Barnes say which one for or both or what? the second one especially is unforgiveable coming so soon after the first. I know he tried to apologise initially but then to have a go at the young lad as well

A swinging arm to the jaw that KO's a player out of the game is a red card as much as the wilder shot on Smith was.

Fair enough. I've only seen the Twitter clip posted above and it didn't show much of the first incident. I shall bow to your superior knowledge (this time :P )

The passage of play pretty much continued until the second one, then the TMO pointed out that one to Barnes too. The first one wasn't obvious in live play as to what had happened, but I assume it was checked as Chisholm stayed down.

Quins were very niggly for the whole game, wouldn't surprise me if Eastmond was trying to be ultra physical and lost it a bit. 17 minutes in, and a game I was confident of winning became one I was confident of losing.

Most pleasing thing about that match for me was the D at the end.

EPIC

Eh? There was almost zero niggle in that match.

There weren't too many spark points, but there were a fair few off the ball incidents that I noticed without watching out for them. I'm definitely interested in what Ward supposedly said, and whether Barnes actually heard anything.

You're joking, right? Ward was spoken to because he got mouthy during the fracas after Eastmond tried to injure two players, and as captain Barnes wanted him to set a better example. You can't retrospectively use that to excuse Eastmond or make some vague allusions to off the ball stuff that didn't even register compared to most matches.

Eastmond has been a prick before on and off the field.

I'm not saying what Ward may have said set Eastmond off as it was clearly after the event, but there was plenty of the normal niggly stuff that occurs in Wasps Quins games going on in that game.

It looked tame as hell to me, and nothing like previous matches between us or how we played against Saracens, for example. You are stretching the niggle definition to breaking point.

Ward is alleged to have racially abused a Wasps player (Wade?) according to some posts on Sports Network, which Wasps complained about to Barnes who apparently said it would be dealt with afterwards.

As I said, there weren't many sparks flying, but just because there weren't many fights, doesn't mean that the niggle wasn't there.

This is lame, Raggs. Quins were supine and the team were lacking almost all the players who are actually likely to try off the ball stuff to wind players up or put a team off. We rolled over and let wasps tickle our bellies - trying to claim Quins were very niggly the whole game is ridiculously one eyed.

Petros, that's a very serious accusation that needs a little more corroboration than a dude on the wasps forum. Barnes certainly didn't seem to be talking about that to Ward, but I didn't catch the whole conversation.

I saw it first on Shedweb not on the Wasps board!

Okay Petros. You did feel the need to post that particular rumour, mind.

From memory Barnes tells him to watch his language - Ward was swearing - and I can't believe Barnes would say that if it was racial abuse.

Okay so having checked, the guy on shedweb is referring to the wasps fans on their own board, where one fan claims ward made a racist comment, then later changes it to "reading between the lines". So I'll wait for anything official, I think.

He's brilliant at some things but can also be a total liability sadly. His discipline is awful - I got it the wrong way round, it was six penalties and four missed tackles - and his lineout throwing is pretty random. Has a great attitude most of the time but doesn't have the smarts to know when to back off.

Lovely skills at times though.

The two boys straight in on top of him immediately after the second hit.

Marcus Smith is a tough little bugger. Doesn't seem to get ruffled when he gets roughed up.

Must be said, he really looked like he lost his shit there - was he even trying to fight his own player who was pulling him away? I'd never really thought of him as a dirty player, but he's a bloody hard tackler for such a small guy. Inclined to agree that there seemed to be something that had niggled him, which I thought was out of character.

The first hit on Chisholm was borderline high (the carrier stooped late into the tackle), but there was still a swinging arm which was stupid. The second hit was outright dirty, and there's no excuse for hitting that high and hard on a bloke the same height as you.

Eastmond seemed to throw himself to the ground as a form of self preservation or just fright! The guy is massive.
