The trailer for Dead Island was pretty impressive. A pity the game was mediocre though.

 Sorry, it is grim. Perhaps "most memorable" rather than "best" would be apt there.

Final Fantasy 7 is a personal favourite. https://youtu.be/JujtlsiqZ-E

Half-Life deserves a mention for how ground-breaking it was for the time - the point at which you realised, whilst riding the train into Black Mesa, that you were free to move around and look out of whatever window you wished. Old hat now, but amazing then.

GTA V was also excellent - playing through the original heist before cutting to San Andreas and the future.

The intro for Starcraft : Broodwar was highly memorable (and grim) in the "war is hell" sense.

Did you watch the one I posted?

... interesting to see herky jerky movement in that, but in the older Outlaws one, there's a brilliantly subtle, but perfectly-done rendering of how a rope swing snaps down when the daughter jumps off and runs into the house.

That trailer was astounding, which makes the extent to which it misrepresents what the actual game was like all the more infuriating

EDIT: Just occurred to me that The Last Of Us is basically the game that trailer was advertising

I put over 100 hours into the game. I reached a boss and I needed to back to acquire a spell to defeat him, but unfortunately I couldn't go back. Tragic!

 Some say the best game ever.

I'm more of a strategy fan at heart (Civilization, Alpha Centauri, Age of Empires) but those don't lend themselves to trailers.

Final Fantasy XV put together an entire movie (Sean Bean!) for their trailer - the opening scene will sell you on the franchise if nothing else does:

The intro to the other original X-Wing in 1993 was awesome because it felt like real Star Wars for the first time - right music, right effects, great graphics (for the time!). I actually watched it more than once on load.

The opening sequence to Top Gun: Fire at Will (1996 PC) was the opening sequence to the film - in other words it was brilliant. Much better than the game, which was pants.

I never owned or played the game, but I remember when this intro came out and someone sent it to me. I thought it was badass AF.

You can take your pick from anyone of half a dozen Lucasarts titles back in the day but The Secret of Monkey Island would be my favourite.

Deep in the Caribbean...

Also someone's already mentioned Fallout 3 but 1 and 2 were both pretty special as well, again with great music choices ("Maybe" and "Kiss to build a dream on").

War never changes

Ooh yes, particularly Bioshock. I loved that one.

The original Resident Evil is another classic.

Great call. One of the all time 16 MB tunes. I see now where Dr Alban got his inspiration.

New version is quite a good remake too.

Earlier days of the proper Playstation NBA games, Kevin Garnett footage in the game in a dark lonely park dunks it and then it's pure effective real time NBA action euphoria, like a daydream, superbly edited with exciting state of the art editing tricks until it resumes back to Garnett's dunk in that dark park, as if it had all been some kind of dream. Very memorable intro.

Couldn't believe the graphics, the fluidity, the colors... there was actual DBZ animation in my game.
