400 times?
If even vaguely accurate then either the Met is sh*t at preventing crime or it is simple victimisation.

Almost 20 years on from Macpherson and plus ca change.

I dunno, London became less of a violent crime ridden shithole for a while but now it's back to being a violent crime ridden shithole again if the crime stats are anything to go by?

I suspect the crime just shifted geographically as former run down areas became fashionable and the earlier denizens forced on to the next sh*thole down the line.

Prostitution attracts crime. Ask any career policemen.

Keep the sex workers out and you will be safer.

Stop and search has been scaled back massively. The young lad on the video obviously want everyone looking the other way from the mainly black on black stabfest.

I think we should do more not less.

Sounds horrific, and clearly a huge issue. as is the amount of young black males getting killed by young black males. I know a number of Met officers who have told me that cops generally hate having to search young black males because of the adverse scrutiny it attracts.

Not in any way trying to defend the Met but they have been accurately recording the names of all those stopped and searched for years. Would have been easy to add some substance to the lads claim.

Allow me to express my utter shock that the Met, which is surely the most honourable and upright police force in the whole UK, might be engaging in unscrupulous activities of some kind.

You claim Prostitution as a major factor in a thread about knife crime among young black males and then post research about Hollands Prostitute zones as your back up. FFS.

Prostitution as a major factor in causing crime. Read.

EDIT : No prostitutes in the UK ? Or are they much different ?

I hate to agree with WT but it's no coincidence that there is a correlation between crime and Black Mac's presence, never again will I take advantage of his two for one offer down a dark alley, no matter how long he tells me he loved me loads.

Living in hackney it is quite obvious. A young black lad who labours for me mentioned that he never gets stopped when he's with us, but regularly when he's hanging out with his mates.
Although he then pointed out that there was good reason to suspect a few of them of (minor) crimes.

Most of the knife crime around here certainly seems to be black on black gang/crew related stuff, the more worrying recent events for people outside those groups is the random acid attacks.

The one thing I categorically could state is that prostitution has fûck all to to with anything

If I was a black lad, I would love being stopped. In fact, I'd get pissed off if I wasn't regularly stopped.

Young black men are by far the most common victims of violent crime, especially knife and gun crime - ergo, they become safer when stop-and-search is more frequent.

(It's no coincidence that knife crime has exploded since May sought to appease the anti-stop-and-search lobby).

Large scale prostitution will always go hand in hand with crime, but your post was utterly irellevant to this thread and the problems of knife crime in the UK.

As a person from Newcastle can I just apologise how Greggs of Gosforth has now become synonymous with knife crime, prostitution and the Edinburgh Police.

As recompense I'll forsake my breakfast bacon and egg half stottie for Lent.

You really think it's as simple as that? I ask because in the UK there was one copper per 800 population in the 1960s and now it is more like per 500 (or less).

Less effective policing = more crime probably is true. At least in terms of the types of crime that affects the man on the street.

Cheers. I was trying to find if recording was mandatory i.e. if so, it should be easy-ish to ratify abuse as you highlight.

What is an issue is the bullshit reason they give you for stopping you. Its always been burglaries in the area. Even when they stop a group who are suited and booted in the early hours. It's clearly just trawling

Additional demands. Counter terrorism, public protection, online crime and exploltation, the list goes on. It has been suggested that 40% of the UK's police would need to be permanently emplyed in online child protection to adequately tackle the issue. The police service in the UK is on it's knees, you cannot continually get more for less.

No doubt about that. An obsession with politically driven statistic recording. Read the recent issues Police Scotland have had re stop and search of juveniles.

Years ago we took on a young black lad into our engineering team as a junior technician. He often told us how he was regularly stopped by the Met police and that for him and his mates it was a matter of when as opposed to if when they were out together. I was thinking how it was a bit shite how this smartly dressed suited and booted presentable young man trying to get on in life was being harassed by the Rozzers. The company then introduced a dress down Friday policy and sure enough most people rocked up to the office in fairly boring jeans and tshirt type attire whereas our young technician strolls into the office in his full on loud South Central Los Angeles gang banger gear complete with jaunty angle baseball cap, gold jewellery, exaggerated limp and trousers around his knees. While one should not judge a book by its cover I could not help but think that this lad was probably not helping his cause
