I see Aumua spent too much time with Julian Savea over his break. (a bit silly that he had to have the AB standdown in the first place)

yep. his nick name will be the pie cart from now on. Still he is a young fella and after a stellar season I will give him a get out of jail free card (one time only)

He's too young to be putting on weight like that FFS.

That report says they'll probably leave Beauden Barrett out of the 23 due to him joining the squad late.
I'd probably prefer Garden-Bachop to start with Ihaia West on the bench.

Going to be a lot of eyes on Aumua given all the hype he's been getting. Would love to see him live up to even half of it, but that's an almost impossible task. Ardie Savea would've been a lot better positioned if he hadn't been hyped up to such an extent, hope the same doesn't happen here.

Have to agree with that. Just as long as it isn't the Canes posters claiming he's the best thing since sliced bread we should be all right though...

The best thing since sliced bread is still Coles. Aumua has a long way to go.

There's only been one dickhead Canes supporter who has been doing that.

A few years ago this would have been one of the best games of the tournament. I'm not sure this Bulls team possesses the pedigree to overturn a quality Canes side.

He is as fat as C69. A career over before it even began.

So do I (after this game). It can't be that just one SA franchise can up their game while all the rest are simply pondering their navels wondering what they need to do to improve.

I will be at the game, a day before I fly back to China for business. So timing just right to get one real live game this year. I hope for an improved performance from the Bulls from the last few seasons. From preseason there was a few promising signs, and the players seem more hungry to play than last season.

Honestly, it is quite difficult for me to guess what Mitchell's first team will be. He never really played combinations more than once during preseason. The squad is a very young squad and he basically tested every player during preseason.
If I had to guess, the team might look like this.
1. Trevor Nyakane
2. Adriaan Strauss (Edgar Marutlulle?)
3. Frans van Wyk
4. RG Snyman
5. Lood de Jager
6. Roelof Smith
7. Nick de Jager (Tim Agaba)
8. Jano Venter
9. Embrose Papier
10. Handre Pollard
11. Jamba Ulengo(Jade Stiglingh)
12. Burger Odendaal
13. Jessie Kriel
14. Travis Ismaiel
15. Warrick Galant

Weak front row, but promising everywhere else. My big question, can Mitchell teach Jesse Kriel to play better, usually in great physical shape, but I think he is stupid.

Yeah the front row does not inspire confidence.
Several of the players said that Michell is the best coach they ever worked with. I think Jessie Kriel also said the coaching he is getting from Mitchell is on another level, so I hope we see some progress from him. He has the potential to be devastating if he can learn to be more smarter on field.

I really hope Pollard is over his injury problems, and can get a full season of play in, would love to get him back in form for both the bulls and boks. Hopefully Michell can coach him back to how he was when he first broke through

Bulls - possible (like they played in an internal trial match this week): 15 Warrick Gelant, 14 Travis Ismaiel, 13 Jessie Kriel, 12 Burger Odendaal (captain), 11 Johnny Kotze, 10 Handre Pollard, 9 Andre Warner, 8 Jano Venter, 7 Hanro Liebenberg, 6 Roelof Smit, 5 Lodewyk de Jager, 4 Rudolph Snyman, 3 Frans van Wyk, 2 Jaco Visagie, 1 Pierre Schoeman.
Replacements: TBC

Date: Saturday, February 24
Venue: Loftus Versfeld, Pretoria
Kick-off: 17.15 (15.15 GMT; 04.15 Sunday, February 25 NZ time)

Injuries:
Meanwhile wing Jamba Ulengo consulted a Swedish specialist and underwent minor knee surgery.

According to Bulls team doctor Herman Rossouw, Ulengo will be sidelined for about eight weeks.

The Bulls decided to seek overseas help when the tendon injury - suffered in August last year - didn't heal and there were fears that it would be career-ending for the big wing.

South African A lock Jason Jenkins won't be available for this weekend's Super Rugby game against the Hurricanes - the result of an AC Joint injury.

Jenkins should finish his recovery by the end of the week and will be available next week.

The same goes for fellow lock Aston Fortuin, who also has an AC joint injury and will be back next week.

Franco Naude has undergone shoulder surgery and will be out for four months, while Jannes Kirsten started this weekend in the internal trial game but will be available for selection next weekend.

Finally, Springbok Sevens star Tim Agaba is struggling with a hamstring strain and will be back in line for selection next week.
