to Scarlets apparently, at end of this Super Rugby season.

Any good kiwis?

Expecting the usual, he is a very average player and has gone to easy rugby, but will filter through that to get the info.

Much appreciated.

He's a good mobile back rower and a good lineout option.

He was a handy player for the Canes when he was fit, seems to have had a bad run of injuries because he kinda disappeared.

Has a good rugby brain on him and often pops up in the right places to score tries. I remember him as a 6 who can cover lock which seems to have become a NZ thing, but he could probably cover most loosie positions at a push but always came across to me as a very mobile second rower who was a bit on the short side (for a lock).

Yeah, he doesn't really have the bulk to start at lock full time but can cover there in a pinch.

Very good player. Seems to get bad injuries often.

Think it's a pretty good signing.

Is he as good as Jordan Taufua?

If so he and Carwyn Tuipulotu might be good replacements for Beirne and Barclay

Ok, cheers guys. Beirne came to us with injures and has done fine since. Hopefully he pulls through as we can't afford the big money that the English and French teams splash about.

Scotland qualified via grandparents, apparently. Will watch with interest!

Talented athlete, always seemed a bit underpowered for his role but a very skilful player when not injured

Not at all.

Couldn't nail down a regular start with the Hurricanes.

As Alan Hansen once said

'If you're old enough, you're good enough'

Would they pick him if he was playing well in Wales though?

IMO he is similar to Fifita: tall, relatively quick and skilful. Injuries hurt any chances he had of getting close to an AB cap, though I suspect he wasn't ever really going to get one.

Our captain plays in Wales.

Fair enough. He started his career in Scotland though, and crucially, was raised in Scotland. I'd think those points would count against Thomson unless he was playing phenomenally, though maybe I'm not looking at it through the right lens.
