I think the S. Smith was lucky but Nicholas/Smith/Mikey Mike are just spit balling about the DRS.

Also how come there is no hot spot here?

Yeah crashing in to off however you still can't give it out as it isn't pitching in line and playing a shot. A couple of those occurred in the Aus v England one day series. Umpire got it right.

Rather than in favour of the batsman, every marginal decision should go in favour of SA.

That’s only fair.

Was the on side so doesn't need to pitch in line.

But saying that, the commentators were freeballin' in their explanation of the DRS.

Still, Smith was fortunate.

Bowling tight lines is just going to prolong the agony. Get Smith out will bring in the bigger hitters.

DRS said it pitched outside the line case closed. In regards to outside leg stump you can't get out playing a shot or not.

Most likely boost the run rate. Australia only need another 90

Watch the review again. Outside off, playing a forward defensive shot and didn't get three lights. You need three lights to get a dismissal. Smith didn't get that not out. Had he padded up or shouldered arms he should have been out.

It's where it HITS the pad, not where it PITCHED. Pitch only applies outside LEG stump, not OFF stump.

It hit marginally outside off so it stayed with Umpires call.

DRS said it hit outside off end of debate. They can't over turn a decision when the system says it is not out.

sober up you frothing mong.

For the last time, where it PITCHED (that is where the ball bounces on the pitch) has completely fudge ALL to do with the decision.

Sure, what DRS said is already acknowledged.

But there is a difference between HIT and PITCHED.

Kiap agreed. Pitched and hit is the same in regards to DRS decisions. Super Sport dropped it after the decision was made. If it was Channel 9 they will be still talking about it.

Insane Homer I suggest you behave that like at your next RFU referees meeting and see how far it gets you.

Pitch was okay first session.

But the ball is old and soft now, plus Saffa bowlers have tightened it up

Light meter brought out only a matter of time. Around 20 overs left in the day to bowl be lucky to get to get four more it is that dark.

Be good to get a two runs then go off for the light. ;)

There's the 400 lead.

South Africa are bowling pace in the dark, Sir.

Edit ... Hazlewood hits a four, seeing it like a football ... and that's off for the light ... stumps (probably)

Is just over 400 runs lead enough? No idea, but still think this will be close as saffers love a chase. Anyone know the stats for the highest run chase achieved at this ground?

Crazy that Lyon is now the 6th highest Aussie wicket taker of all time, just passing Craig McDermott

Would like to see some more movement from the Day 4 pitch and hopefully some proper reverse swing from our quicks tomorrow
