Boet, wamberal99 is your man or shanky.

Failing that, it looks like this thread is it.

Might've given it a shot myself in past years but I only have a small care-factor for the Tahs at best... and don't care about SupeRugby now either.

Good luck

The absence of a match thread confirms the lack of worth of the Tahs, their fans generally, and the ones who inhabit this bored in particular.

The move to replace the Tahs with a hypothetical franchise from Western Australia is gathering steam.

Geez, guys. Haven't we suffered enough without being called out for a lack of interest?

Even if it is true. To be brutally honest, now we record just about every game (that we are interested in, so that narrows it down to a couple or so every week), then watch them later, with lots of fast forwarding.

It was not all that long ago that we could even watch a Seth Efrican derby. That seems like last century. Maybe it was ?

Fatprop is your man. He has a lot of energy to burn, wastes most of it defending that farkwit in the Whitish House.

Jesus - I never watched a South African derby - they are uniformly dire. I only watch the occasional Australian derby because they are time zone friendly and I still usually have beer left then.

I am going back a long way, back when we would just about any rugby.

Now the only rugby we watch pretty much every game of is the Shute Shield.

 does not give a solitary fark. To be fair, he is the only one dressed appropriately for this time of year, but if you had to paint a picture of how seriously this competition is marketed it would look a lot like this.

Yep another Tah supporter here. But more of a fan of Aussie rugby in general and hoping the outstandingly crappy ARU can sort their sh1t out thus building a stronger and more united Wallabies side going forward into 2019 #crossesfingers #canmiracleshappen ;)

Stormers to get a hiding here. Cant see them beating the mighty Waratahs. We dont have a backline, no lineouts just a little bit of scrumming.

The Tahs will win, one would expect, unless they are quite rusty.

It looks more or less like a full strength Tahs team going into round one. Only injury concern I'm aware of is Simmons, who is a bag of shit anyway.

Full strength Tahs vs. injury ravaged Stormers after a 47 hour trip and probably in economy class. No chance.

Quote:
CAPE TOWN – So Kurtley Beale believes the Waratahs can “shock the competition” this Super Rugby season. But if you look at their Super Rugby run last year, can Beale’s views be considered realistic or just wishful thinking?

The Australian team that managed only four wins in 15 games last season and found themselves in 16th spot in a then-18 team competition will kick-off their 2018 campaign against the Stormers on Saturday.

Surely it should be the easiest of the Stormers’ games on their three-match tour to Australasia, seeing that they face the Crusaders and the Highlanders after their fixture in Sydney? I guess. But the Stormers still need to take heed of Beale’s excitement about what his team can achieve this season.

Speaking to the Sydney Morning Herald, the man who can create play from anywhere just as easily (and seemingly comfortably) as he can pose for a picture with Prince Harry in nothing but briefs and holding a beer, said: “There was a lot of experience back then in the pack and backs but if everyone can take all their experience and be on the same page, then we’ll give ourselves a good chance.”

“Skilfully, we can shock the competition. It’s a matter of everyone buying into the same thing and making sure everyone is on the same page. If that occurs, we’ll give ourselves a really good opportunity of success.

Beale seems pretty confident the Waratahs can drastically turn things around, and after missing out on Super Rugby action last year due to his time with Wasps, the 29-year-old is keen to flourish with his mates during the “exciting times’ that await them.

“We have a lot of young guys coming through with a lot of huge potential. It’s exciting times. I love playing in the sky blue jersey and it’s created a lot of memories. It only fits best to come back and do as much as I can for the club and try and make them one of the main teams of the competition.”

That’s some very optimistic thinking by the Wallabies playmaker, very optimistic indeed. But it certainly says enough for us to assume the 2014 champions will be fired up against the South Africans.

Now the Stormers should know pretty well that no team in the competition can be underestimated, and following their season-opener against the Jaguares at Newlands - a home performance that was far from perfect - I can’t exactly see them heading into the event at the Sydney Football Stadium sky-high on confidence.

And yes, the ‘Tahs 2017 season might have been a disaster, but let’s not forget about the men that could be running out onto the pitch for them on Saturday - the likes of Michael Hooper, Reds recruit Rob Simmons, Israel Folau and human steam train Taqele Naiyaravoro. And, of course, if the ‘Tahs possible 10-12-15 combo of Foley, Beale and Folau get it right, it could be a tougher-than-expected afternoon.

Besides, as they say - beware the wounded animal.

Aside from the Sunwolves and the Rebels, no other team emerged with from the 2017 season with more bruises than the Waratahs.

They have nothing to lose, they can certainly be seen as the underdogs going into this match, and that can make them dangerous.

Beale is desperate to taste some success this season, and if that kind of enthusiasm comes from such a key figure in the squad, I don’t see how it cannot spread throughout the team.

So again, Stormers, beware.

I was on a flight last week with Kane Douglas. Watching him try to sit in economy nearly brought tears to my eyes

Likely to be on the bench since Foketi is getting the nod at 13

Bit disappointed with Simone. Absolutely dominant at Club/NRC and then goes missing at Supe level.

Foketi is a former schoolboy star who couldn’t break in to the Tahs before and went off to England for a while. Looked pretty good in the trial, but we’ll see.

I'm not as pessimistic as some Stomps on here. We need to be fast out of the blocks, catch the Tahs cold.

I think it's time SA Rugby put Aussie rugby back where they belong, which is a fair bit behind us.

Simone wasn't able to put his stamp on 12 in his first season, his form was pretty patchy. He did look quite good in the trial and will be a solid understudy for Beale this season

Agreed. I mention Foketi because you would have thought Simone would have got the nod at 13 over the rookie

(I have seen him play a fair bit of 13 at lower grades.)

Looks like he'll be warming the bench then, behind Beale.

Simone is ball player with a reasonable kicking game and suited to 12, Foketi looks like a dynamic 13 who can break tackles

Well, let's see. I'm not disputing his skill set, only his ability to step up

Case in point, Horwitz

Ramone Samuels starting? Now he is even shitter than Marx at throwing in. The Muir kid played well while he was on.

Good Stormers side.

But I have to laugh at JJ Engelbrecht   . Is he the same one that Heyneke Meyer had such a mancrush on?
