Jordie Barrett is poised to join brother Beauden in the Hurricanes' starting XV on Sunday.

The younger Barrett arrived in Argentina yesterday, where the Hurricanes are due to meet the Jaguares at 10.40am (NZ time). Jordie Barrett hasn't played Super Rugby since injuring his shoulder in last year's semifinal loss to the Lions, but saw some action for the Hurricanes' development team on Sunday and replaces Wes Goosen (ankle) in the squad to play in Buenos Aires.

Prop Tolu Fahamokioa has also joined the team - with Toby Smith now in concussion protocols - but all eyes will be on the Barrett brothers this week.

The Barrett brothers will return to the starting line-up for the Hurricanes to face the Jaguares in their Investec Super Rugby match at Velez Sarsfield, Buenos Aires, on Sunday (NZ time).

World Rugby Player of the Year Beauden Barrett will start at first five-eighth after coming off the bench during the Hurricanes opening match against the Bulls while Jordie Barrett has been named at fullback.

Sunday's match will be the first time Jordie Barrett has started a game since he injured his shoulder playing for the Hurricanes in last year's Investec Super Rugby semifinal against the Lions in South Africa.

He made a more than pleasing return to action for the Hurricanes Development side in their win over the Crusaders Knights last Sunday and made the trip to Buenos Aires after wing Wes Goosen was ruled out with an ankle injury.

Hurricanes head coach Chris Boyd has made four changes to the starting side from last week's opening match against the Bulls with Chris Eves coming in for the injured Toby Smith while Ben Lam comes on to the wing to replace Goosen.

There is also one positional change in the side as Matt Proctor moves from fullback into centre with Vince Aso moving to the bench.

Changes have also been made to the make-up of the reserves with Alex Fidow fit to take his place after he was withdrawn from the Bulls match while Michael Fatialofa also makes a welcome return.

Former Melbourne Rebels first five-eighth Jackson Garden-Bachop will make his first appearance for the Hurricanes if he is used off the bench.

Sunday's match will be just the second time the two sides have met, the first coming back in 2016 when the Hurricanes beat the Jaguares 40-22 at Westpac Stadium.

West goooonee, Bachop in on the bench. Let's hope that's an improvement.... well yes it is already, neither is starting.

I'd have liked to see Thompson start, but he's also very useful on the bench and, hallelujah, Michael Fatialofa is back, well at least he's on the bench.

So after 2 seasons of not being able to field 2 actual locks in our starting XV we .... still can't seem to get our selection policies right and have 2 freakin locks starting.
Fafita is fine as emergancy cover from blindside but FFS what is wrong with the management and squad selection policy?
I demand answers and blood! :x

Well, at least it is looking like a squad. Key will be how Evans goes at 8. Really need somebody coming through...

Not going to pick a score. They just need to get a win under their belts, no matter how ugly.

dunno if foul, Lam so deep in the in-goal that there was a chance to take him out before the grounding...

TJ might be in trouble here.
I’ve got no problem with what the Argie did there, although it may have been marginally late.

Nice line from Evans.

Bit of nonsense afterward. Don't think there's much it that he was trying to stop the ball being grounded.

Softy. He was cribbing yards for an easy kick and got tackled for it. No problems here.

TJP is the idiot trying to get sent off for starting a fight.

I do wish the commentators had decided on one pronunciation of Jaguares before the game started, they're getting quite bizarre .
