Why has Russia become such a utopia and Putin such a hero for both the Alt-Right and the far left?

Genuine question, it baffles me...

1. The perception that Putin can with impunity act against the establishment in their own countries (if you ignore the economic consequences for ordinary Russians from sanctions and the opportunity cost of Russia not being part of the international rules based order)

2. RT and other Russian media provide them a platform and shred of legitimacy.

Earlier this year Dutch-led international investigators concluded that the missile belonged to a Russian brigade. Russia has denied any involvement in the plane's destruction.

Data from the laptop showed it was also present in the Swiss city of Lausanne where it was linked to the hacking of a laptop belonging to the World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada), which has exposed doping by Russian athletes.

Using the same laptop in each operation is a bit of a schoolboy error.

Was going to post that. Seems fairly basic. Burn the equipment used after each operation.

Still, more evidence of things that everyone knows but Russia merrily pretend didn't happen; murdering 300 innocents above Ukraine, state sponsored doping and meddling into the resultant investigation. I don't know why anyone thinks it's such a great or honest country (or leadership, at least).

And the second suspect is named as a military doctor, working in the GRU. Handy to have a doctor on the job when handling lethal substances.

1. Deny all involvement
2. Accuse the accusers of being part of NATO 'conspiracy' against Russia
3. Make sarcastic jibes via state owned media
4. Rinse and repeat

They reach their goals ... and the true spooks are operating undiscovered.

Just like the 1950s, they hired Bulgarian thugs to throw bombs at unimportant targets (and each other !) Pulled all attention away from the true Russki spies.

Putin is an operator ...

They wish to intimidate the West. Build a show of credibility in Russia.
The West's hysterical reactions and story mongering (a la Cold War) plays right into the hands of the Russians.

Eggsactly .... if the land who invented the Mig29, the AK47 and Anotonov and Hind and assorted weapons, together with their pace program, nuclear weapons, missiles, etc. etc., sattelites, cannot deploy this stuff, at will, there is something more than seriously wrong ..

I refuse to accept that the Russians, as a people and a country, are less able than say, the Brits or Yanks. Or Saffers ...

The GRU has been prosecuting Putin's "intimidation of the west" so successfully that they have managed to shore up the western alliance against Russia. Leading to increased level of sanctions against Russia which has pushed the Russian economy deeper into shitter and Putin actually faces domestic unpopularity for the first time.

Whats for the encore?

Maybe a tour de force of Putin, charming the angry West into a bunch of wide eyed puppies nad believers ... for a while. Meantime making pacts with China and eroding the main Western characters (UK, USA, France and Germany)

We'll never know what goes on in inscrutable Russia.

Wouldn't put it past them to manufacture a foreign threat/ incident to try to shore up the Putin popularity index back home. They just did another topless Putin calendar so they're sticking with their tried and true methods of propping up the kleptocracy.

Do you really think that after Nuclear and chemical weapons being used by Russian military officers in a NATO country he can claw back legitimacy?

I refer to these weapons of subterfuge, the poisons and cyber war etc. etc. Not conventional war weapons like you refer to, FFS, give Putin SOME credit ..

All right. MILITARY weapons... (Sorry, I am distracted, writing a constitution for an NGO)

Not weapons to be deployed surreptitiously by seeming civilians. Spies, operatives, whatever. Not military personnel.

Technically the Litvinenko incident is considered Radiological, but yeah, all part of the CBRNE incident unconventional WMD family that is fuckign reprehensible, partly because they're so damn effective against civilians.
