Most of the first choice XV are in the squad, just a lot on the bench. Some players needed resting (AWJ for example) and some needed to stop trying to whinge out a penalty and gave away possession and ultimately a try (Biggar). It seems sensible when the championship is lost to use a home game against the bottom side to experiment a bit. If it bites us on the bum so be it.

The Italians won't mind, they're playing the team in red whoever wears the shirt and if they're picking lesser players all the better.

The risk is with Wales, entirely of their own making.

Our back row is very mobile, is it a bit light? 2 7s on the pitch and another 7 on the bench.

Everyone in he 6N tends to be a bit conservative with their selection other than for the Italy game

If you're Italy, the Six Nations outright consists of trying to be competitive in each match for an hour, full stop, and then if at all possible, when all the conditions are right (home fixture in Rome, catching a side on a reaaaally really bad year and lack of confidence, huge injury list etc) try to upset the worst 5N side that year. So the best possible scenario is avoiding the Wooden Spoon or in quantitative terms, managing one win.

Italy have twice won 2 games in a 6n season, so saying their best possible scenario is 1 win is maybe a touch harsh.

Talking about Italy over the past 4-5yrs, Italy right now in the current setting.

They last won twice in 2013, which is just outside that range in fairness. However, while accepting one win looks a struggle I still don't think it's their best case sceanrio.

This. I'll be disappointed if we ship more than one try to them, based on their current form.

I think I read that Parisse's last game in the 6N, which was a loss to France, was his 100th loss while playing for Italy. Fark!!!

Even more surprising is that means he has had 30+ wins given he has 132 caps. I certainly can't remember 30 Italian wins but they must exist.

It's mostly going to be wins over the likes of Argentina, Tonga, Scotland, Canada, USA, there'll probably be some wins over Romania, Russia and Portugal too, though there are wins over France, Ireland and South Africa that he's probably played in

On a thread about Wales it was easily done

Parisse was first capped in 2002. Since then, Italy have wins against:

Wales X 2
Scotland X 6
Argentina X 2
France X 2
South Africa
Fiji X 4
USA X 4
Canada X 6
Romania X 3
Samoa X 2
Tonga X 3
Japan X 4
Russia X 2
Uruguay
Portugal X 2
Georgia
Spain

so about 45 wins (although he won't have played in all these games)

How embarrassing for SA to be on that list.

Italy are pants, so its good to see how some players go with the WC in mind, Italy have become the whipping boys your 5 pointer and lets see how many points you can put on them.
I think Wales are in a good place right now, away to Eng and Ire its always tough but in both games we could have won.

I'm always happy for Wales to think they are in a good place. Of course, I'd be even happier if they persist with Alex Cuthbert, but even the Welsh management seem to be having second thoughts on that one.

I think it would be disrespect if they moved the game to Pandy Park.

Golden generation at a time when a decent pack alone could keep you in games, possibly win you a couple.
Right now R.U. is the most exclusive sport in the world, you need top fitness top athletes top players top coaches to even partake, let alone make anything significant out of your season. France have at least the talent, more or less the fitness, they can compete a bit but it's minimal, Italy don't even have that.

If ya can't beat France in the 6N with 2/3rds their best players out, and in fact get smashed, one win sounds like Heaven. Who the Hell is going to lose to Italy right now, who ?

You may be right on this but.. what I don't get is, what are you trying to prove down here..your animosity against such a poor Italian side makes you sound like a pathetic looser

fudge off.

Basketball, Ice hockey, Cricket, League, all much less competitive at the top level. Hockey is only competitive because the nhl periodically bans nhl players from taking part.

Obviously not even including non international indigenous codes like AFL, garlic football, American football, kabbashi etc.

Discussing Italian Rugby's case on a thread about Italian Rugby online makes me sound like a pathetic loser ? Such a loser in fact it warrants two 'O's ??? I'd have let it slide with just the one 'O', but this is taking it too far pal.

Think so. Take away the up and under and Biggar in attack has all the creativity of a train watching accountant who collects stamps.
