You cannot start a test on the back of 1 or 2 good showings for a school team.
Only if that school was Grey Bloem.
Last year he was the star player in the SA u20 team.

Obvious Handyman only watch the Stormers.

Why? We have a number of young loosehead props who are better over-all players, no reason to bring in an old man who plays off the bench for the Stormers

The Kolisi call for Bok captain is going to make it very difficult for him to put WW back as captain when fit. It won't go down well.

Thank goodness. Another kak outing by Samuels yesterday. Groom's try was all him.
Just show your lack of rugby knowledge.
1. There was a moerse gap on the defesive line.
2. Any 9 worth something should dummy and score on front feet ball that close to the try line.
3. Any 9 worth something should run rings around any 2.

Samuels is still a raw talent but at least he is the one that stand up in the physical confrontations in the Stormers team. He had one lock on saturday and only one screwup throw. I can live with that. Bongi's the Springbok throwing is more off target.
The moerse gap was because he left his pillar position oom. The runner on Groome's outside was covered. Poor defense be samuels.

Lions stars Lionel Mapoe and Courtnall Skosan (both of whom are nursing niggles) also miss out.
All of those are upgrades to the squad by being left out...Leyds could replace Travis who's been poor as well but nothing much in it for a squad position.

Not sure we should be spending too much time looking at two completely different teams. I think there will still be players in the Wales test taking part in the England test. Will be interesting to see how Rassie trims it after the Welsh outing.

Congrats Siya

Phew! The Boks could have been without any decent hookers
MONTPELLIER'S SOUTH AFRICAN HOOKER BISMARCK DU PLESSIS IS SET TO PLAY IN SATURDAY'S TOP 14 FINAL AGAINST CASTRES AFTER ESCAPING A SANCTION FROM LEAGUE OFFICIALS FOLLOWING A CITATION.

Du Plessis, a world champion with the Springboks in 2007, was cited for putting his hand in the face of Lyon lock Felix Lambey during Montpellier's 40-14 semifinal victory on Friday.

However, National Rugby League (LNR) officials ruled the gesture did not merit a sanction, adding that 34-year-old Du Plessis "will not be summoned by the disciplinary commission".

One of the greatest come backs in test match history. Who have you changed your mind on?

I had Gelant starting and Le Roux bench, in my all star side. This is a bit of a problem now, as Le Roux definitely confused England in defence, probably wouldn't have won without him. But I highly rate Gelant, he needs the game time before the RWC, and we know what we've got with Le Roux. So who starts?

RG Snyman did well, wasn't really on my radar before this one.

Faf de Klerk, he did well and once the Boks got momentum he was unstoppable. But I'm probably just never going to be sure about him, there are also weaknesses. This Ivan van Zyl imposter needs to be dropped though, he's Ivan the Terrible, a left field pick that is not working. We're a long way from Joost starting and Swanepoel as backup, or Fourie du Preez starting and Ruan and Ricky as backup. 9 is our weakest position.

The three overseas based players, Duane/Le Roux/De Klerk, did well. Makes me think the coach was right to pick Bismarck and Frans also. Something looks dodgy with the club there, need to get both into the team asap before the RWC.

Great to again see a Bok side with hardly any Stomps and more than one Sharks player. Got to see some rugby, unlike 2017 when it was just Beast playing. Need to continue cutting the Stomp and Lion deadwood, and replace with Sharks and Bulls removing those that fail (Ivan the Terrible), then add the overseas players.

I thought the majority of the Stomps played well. No real problem there. Not so sure about our starting front row.
Some had a quiet night with a few defensive errors but worth another shot. PSDT looked more industrious than JLDP.

Thomas is my biggest surprise.

Well done lad. They laughed at you after the first game and now you have not embarrassed yourself.

Why bother when trolls like Ox and Sard want to comment only on Stormers players.

Ox was doing well until his fishing line got tossed in.

As for my thoughts, I'll happily share them chilli...I know you look forward to them.

Let me start by saying what I said before the match, any twats still calling these okes quotas can fudge off. That was a team picked on merit and it showed, they deserve more than some old toppie views that when they don't play well it's because they are quotas. I said before the game there is very little I'd change about the team and glad that was vindicated. Now with that out the way...the game.

What a fantastic comeback. Agree with Ox about the Gelant/Willie question. Willie played well today and I highly rate Gelant. Good problem to have. Hopefully Willie remains consistent, that was always a problem for him. The entire backline played well, especially defensively after the first 30 minutes where they looked a little clueless. To be expected with new players though. Once they started gelling it was great to watch.

Same from the pack. How massive with Thor today and couldn't be happier for Siya's first game as capt to lead a massive comeback like this. Loved the Bok scrum, demolished England when Ginger and Thomas came on. Bongi was also very good today. Tough to single people out, they were all good today. JLdP needs to step it up a bit. Notshe made a decent impact coming on, I was worried about him. Makes a lot of mistakes, especially on attack dropping sitters at times. Akker needs to make a bigger impact coming on though. Costly penalty at the end and almost resulted in giving them a chance at a draw.

Problem areas: backup 9 and 10 are major problems still. Jantjies is pants and couldn't have tried less on that defensive cover for Eng's last try. Watch that again and focus on his effort there...or lack thereof. Yes, the counter started from a poor grubber kick but that defensive cover effort was x( And the backup scrummy was too slow, needs to pick it up.

Yes. Only reason I think Kwagga didn't get the nod...well two reasons actually is because 1) he sucked against Wales and 2) he only covers flank whereas Notshe covers flank and 8 if needed and PSDT covers flank as well so no place for Kwagga. Notshe makes too many simple mistakes imo. But yes, JLduP needs to step it up. He, Kolisi, and Duane make a formidable backrow. Duane is just so important to our cause. Whiteley who? Well....unless Duane replaces JLduP to make way for Whiteley. :proud:

Sard has not only commented on Stomps. He has commented on AE at length, and time is proving him correct. It seems then, that he knows more about centre play than you, and this is your specialist rugby subject.

I see elsewhere you are calling for Beast to be dropped. The same Beast that has been a stand out player the last few seasons, and is in the form of his life.

Kwagga can play 8 too. He’s a different class to Notshe despite the performance against Wales and should play ahead of him. For all the talk about Notshe over the past couple of seasons - particularly his athleticism - he’s barely produced an eye catching performance for the Stormers. Both Kwagga and Carr are better players.

Willie is crucial at 15 when he’s in this type of form. He creates so much space for those around him. Has been doing it all season for Wasps and is playing with a confidence that he seemed to lose for a couple of seasons. He was getting slated by Wasps supporters last year and has more than won them over this season.

Heading in the right direction, the deadwood Stomps and Lions are being hauled out of the side. First onto the bench, then out of the team. Bulls and Sharks being added. Lions about at the right level now, amount of Stomps needs to be halved, then we're looking about right.

When you get past all the "blah blah", a big reason for out shitness in recent times, has been stuffing the side with average Stomps. I was starting to get flashbacks to the Mallett era of 14 Stomps plus Joost.

Found it:
Springboks 24 All Blacks 23 (Durban, 1998)
In one of the greatest comebacks in Test history, the Boks overturned a 23-5 deficit with 15 minutes to go, as they set course for their first ever Tri-Nations triumph. Tries from Joost van der Westhuizen and replacement Bobby Skinstad got the Boks right back into the contest, before James Dalton rumbled over on the back of a driving maul during injury time to send the Kings Park faithful into a state of delirium.
