I've tried giving it a listen, but just don't see the hype. Have I reached 'out of touch' old man stage of life? Is this a new kind of 'back in my day...' stance when you criticise kids for their taste in music and tell them: "Go listen to some Chuck D, Tupac or Cube! They're real rappers!"

I find the same about Drake and recent Jay Z releases and the like. Albums raved about seem so average. I generally feel justified as these albums fade from charts and opinion quite quickly suggesting it's all hype and the music press is a doing that thing of good reviews for good access to stars.

Rap is in its late, tired, commercialized stage as a genre IMO...genuinely cannot see what new ideas these guys are bringing to the table.

That said, at least they didn't give it to Drake.

I now know why I keep hearing that annoying tika-tika cymbal loop around school, but I don't find it nearly as catchy as the actual drum beats rappers used to sample (James Brown's actual drummer, I've been told?) back in the day.
