I am not sure how much I will watch. The time zone difference will be brutal, plus no USA, Ghana, or even my third team the Dutch. Not sure who to root for. I guess Mexico.

Not sure if many England fans would want to risk it.

If there ever was a tournament to allow all the England fans who aren't allowed to travel abroad to attend...

The only time i genuinely watch football is when the world cup is on. I didn't realise that Italy & the Netherlands didn't qualify. What's the designated pool of death for this tornument?

C'mon. This time zone is nowhere near as brutal as New Zealand Rugby World Cup or this run of 3 Olympics in a row in South Korea, Japan, and China.

There isn't one really.

Group A and H are competitive, Group B is tasty and Argentina's groups could produce a few shocks but very few of the top teams have been paired together this time.

True and at least there are no people around to ruin the game, like how the Irish guys would show up at practice and tell you the score of the game you DVR'd.

In my experience, unlike Europeans, Africans support each other. So, Nigeria?

It's a huge omission given the season he's just had, without Sane they don't really have the pacy get out that most had been expecting them to have with Werner up front.

It's a very brave call, and I hope they don't regret it.

Sane's had an outstanding season, and you simply can't look past his numbers.

Looks about fair - maybe Portugal ahead of England due to winning Euro 16.

Spain and Brazil my standouts.

Think England will have a great tournament.

It means objectively England have got a better chance of winning the 2018 WC than Portugal. The bookies operate in cold hard statistics rather than nationalistic pride. Looks about right. But no team has ever won a WC in recent years that wasn't a favourite in recent years, you probably need to be in that top 4.

In no particuar order, I will be supporting Egypt, Nigeria, Mexico and Iceland.

I'll be heading south of the border during June/July for a cuple of business trips, so hope to sync it with the El Tri.

France have a very young squad. They certainly have the talent to win it but not sure if they have the fortitude.

They utterly bottled the home Euros, it will take some time to get over that.

However the issue with France I see is they don't have many natural leaders to create a team identity around. There isn't a Zidane, Vieira, Blanc or Henry who led or where mature from an early age. They are all Anelka's. It's IMO a regular problem in football, it's all prima donna's, the self-centered and man-children.
