Doesn't tell you about the quality of ball that was kicked but it's not a lot of kicking from Ireland

I’m surprised Schmidt hasn’t come out in the press saying that the Australian public are turning away from their team because of all their kicking and that Union is dying on its feet in Australia.
That the Australian public want to see the ball run by their team.

Maybe that would be a bit too Warren Gatland/EJ ?

tbf, Schmidt is still spending his time moaning that the referee didn't blow the other team off the park for tackling too hard.

I said during the game the Irish weren't up for the hard stuff and Yoyo and some other clown got their knickers in a knot. Hopefully, we can expect more of the same.

Good Irish side. Either side by less than 7.

This kind of mentality shits me no end. The Australian public are turning away from rugby because their team(s) aren't winning. That's all. The laws don't need to be changed, the tactics don't need to be changed, Australia has to win more than the odd one-off Test. That's all. Nobody was calling for a "faster" game with "more tries and less kicking" back in the golden age of Australian Rugby when the Wallabies were World Cup winners, Bledisloe and Try Nations Champions, consistently breaking NZ hearts with last minute winning scores and just generally hauling arse and setting record crowds of 100,000+ in the Olympic stadium for Bledisloe.

Smiting the Irish would be a good start. But we really need to get that Bledisloe cup back.

So full strength apart from Best, Henderson and Stockdale.

Ireland really lacking in height in the back 3 now, expect Beale and Folau to catch a few cross kicks.

Tbf, missing your captain, leading try scorer and third choice lock would be a big blow to any side. Aus by 8.

It's going to be a wet and miserable day, which basically gives home field advantage to Ireland. I think they will tie up the series by a narrow margin.

Probably a big Tadhg run in try.

How'd you figure that?

You guys are likely to have more possession than last time, leading to more scoring oppos for you, plus we're likely to see more scrums, where the Aussie's are clearly better. On top of that you kick more than us, which will lead to proportionally more Irish fielding mistakes.

If anything, the forecasted shit conditions play more strongly into Australia's limited game plan?

It would reduce the speed of the game.

Ireland were slowing it at every opportunity in Brisbane. Magic sponge and a breather.

Aus finished the game with a load of players blowing out their arses ...... even the very last play saw them trying to kill the ball and slow Ireland down

Slow game suited Aus last week .... especially since you had significantly less possession

Weather makes you 10 points favourites

Irish players said it was the quickest game they’d played this year. Maybe they meant when oz had the ball?

who kicks more?
who will have less possession based on last week?
who's likely to be less fit due to differing playing season patterns?
who's got the better scrum (according to you)?
Who's got the better breakdown?

Australia is the answer to all of the above .... so wet weather and slow game makes you guys roaring hot favourites.

Like I said, own it .....

No excuses if Aus dont win this one handy

Ireland kicked less, had more ball and territory, ran for more metres, had more linebreaks, defenders beaten and offloads but we want a slow game? OK then.

You struggle with the fast game. That’s a fact. It was your players saying it was the quickest, most physical game they’d played all year. You calling them liars?

So we had 60% possession and territory and led every offensive stat while Aus's best attacking tactic was kicking and we're the ones who struggled?

I have no idea why saying it was the fastest game is equating to them saying they struggled in your mind. We lost a tight game that we were leading near the end with plenty of fine margins throughout the game.

Your guys played formulaic Schmidt-ball.

It sorta reminded me of the phone-it-in rugby the Wallabies often played last year. Aus used to win territory and possession often but lose on points.

Difference with the Aussie kicking last up was more often than not keeping it in.

Good pick up. Endless boshing against a brick wall and then wondering you didn’t score points after all that effort.

Australia kicked to regain and very rarely for the lines. Australia wanted to play continuously and the Irish lay around and delayed every stoppage for as long as possible.

Ireland want it short and slow
Australia want it long and fast

Make of that what you will.

The up-tempo SH style of rugby is the go-to way to play against Ireland. It's what got the Argies their WC semifinal berth, and of course is epitomised by that ABs.
