Yep, they have Pacioretty. So being able to get Karlsonn as well and stay under their salary cap would be an achievement.

Is their cap different from other teams, being an expansion team and all??

Rumour now is that it is SJ making the big push for Karlsson.

Sources say the #Sens have dealt Erik Karlsson to the Sharks in exchange for Chris Tierney, Dylan DeMelo, Josh Norris, Rudolfs Balcers, 2020 1st, 2019 2nd and two conditional picks.

Damn - nice work, Sharks!

Hope it works out at there, as keeping him out of the East is preferable...

Wow, nice pickup Sharks.

The Cup was in Hong Kong yesterday at the Canadian International School ahead of the game in Shenzhen tonight. My lovely Canadian neighbour got me a signed picture from Alex Tanguay who was also there.

If the Sharks can sign Karlsson, it is a game-changer for the Western Division. The Sharks would get 4-5 very good years of service from him. If the Sharks cannot sign Karlsson, the team can go for it this year. It does not matter if a couple of the prospects San Jose traded turn out. It is a good trade for the Sharks. San Jose's scouting department is solid. The franchise can survive without 1st and 2nd round picks for a year or two. If I were a Sharks supporter, I would be very comfortable with the management of the team.

Enjoy your new arena, oh wait.

Enjoy the stupid Olympics and that huge price tag. I will be voting no by the way.

How long until the Flames move to an American market? 2 or 3 years max?

Mate I had the Olympics already, I am also voting No, only a fool wouldn't.

Move, nah they won't move, and to be honest if they want the same ass raping deal that Mulletville gave to the Oilers I will show up to help load the truck.

Also, you seem overly grumpy.

Just the realization that we are in for another tough year unless Boeser avoids the dreaded sophomore slump and Pettersson has a rookie of the year season. Think we will start our climb out of the dumpster of the standings next season.

About the Flames, in all honesty, I can see them moving. Their original owners are all dying, literally. With the ownership changeover taking place and with no new arena on the horizon, I can see a move. Especially if the 'no's' win big in November. If we do get the Olympics in 2026, I think there will be a new arena. City council would suddenly announce "it makes more financial sense to build a new arena then renovate the Saddledome.' Guaranteed it would happen.

Seattle Flames has a nice ring to it. Nah, NHL wants that expansion fee. Where would the next move be? Quebec? Maybe Cleveland or Cincinnatti?

Cincy is a decent hockey town actually. But they are getting MLS. Cleveland is pretty crowded with three major teams.

In all seriousness, I do think it is a low possibility, but it is one if no new arena is built. Doubt a revamped Saddledome would appear the owners.

I eagerly await their November slide down the standings.

On a different note.

Was impressed with the Canucks 3rd period last night, after a horrible second. Pettersson looks the real deal, thank god. In 1 or 2 years our PP will be great. Still have to fix the D and G so we don't become the new Oilers.

He has looked good, but in fairness there competition has been weak.

See how he does against NHL players, which he hasn't really faced yet.

So ESPN ranked all 31 teams forward corps and put Vancouver dead last.  Yes, even below Ottawa!

I do think that is harsh on them, don't think they are that bad. Not top half of NHL either, probably around 25th would have been fair IMO.

Thank god I had to work last night and didn't bother to watch that mess. We were missing maybe 3 regulars from our line up and it was bad. I do think our offence will come around a bit but the D and goal is bad, very bad. Ouch.

I saw much of the game last night. Ooof. The Sedins are off the books. What has the Canucks' management done with those millions of dollars to improve the team?

It's #teamsupertank this year. Hopefully we finish above Ottawa, eh, maybe not. We need the best odds possible to finish 1 OA. Have been reading that the draft in '19 is forward heavy, not standout Ds in this draft.

Tom Wilson - suck shit you filthy plum!

Marchand, still a plum as well!

And I hear Pettersson is the new Crosby? Maybe better?

Calgary should be relegated. Opening day, all the stars aligning for the Flames, and BOOM!! Meet the new kids on the block.

One assume hornets is suitably embarrassed.
