I'm a Landers and Mid Canterbury fan.

I had no skin in the Mitre 10 Cup final.

Auckland were impressive in their comeback though. Well played.

Holy spit

Only caught extra time but it was like an old-school 80s Shield game out there, muddy and mistake-ridden but passionate.

Graham Henry is the greatest coach of all time

Yup Ted needs to come back to the Blues in some sort of “capacity”

But that’s neither here no there :)

Except when he was at the Pumas for the first three years of the Rugby Championship and they couldn't win a game?

Dude, this is weak. Far too cordial...

Auckland have surprised me all season - but I had them written off in this one 400 times.

Canty up 17-0, with Akira in the bin, and they lose?! Crazy talk.

They completely transformed their game while he was there, and made a RWC semifinal because of it.

Joe Maddock and Reuben Thorne are both retards.

I think they are actually worse coaches than they were players.

Here's an idea. Romano and Drummond are our best players.

Late in the game, let's replace both of them.

Fail.

They didn't win a game in three years in the RC. Teflon Graham Henry.

Head to head is 49-48 to Auckland. They have like something like 30 NPC titles between the two teams also.

Love the rivalry.

It is like old times, the two fiercest rivals slugging it out to the last minute.

Provincial rugby is best rugby (after ABs, of course)

Congrats Auks, six tries to three? That's a whipping! In a way, it's good to see Auckland strong, so let's hope that the Blues version can also develop.

This, Eden Park will cover their overheads with their beer prices alone tonight  All Finals hosted by Auckland should be free!

Massive shock for them two weeks in a row. Anyone know what odds you could have got on them winning the Meads before the semi-final?

Game was never in doubt.

Glad to see canterburys cancerous snooze-fest form of rugby lose. Did they even score any actually running rugby tries in this final?

Auckland tries were the best of the NPC this season. Canterbury could learn to try running the ball from time to time instead of mauling for tries like the saffas. Pathetic.

Before the rain.

After the rain. Didn't know they had opened up the upper tiers of the south stand though.

The End.

Tough but enjoyable final. Thought both teams had "sealed it" at various points but then the other team scored.

Thought Ruru had a mare. Akira made up a slow first half with a more active second. Very happy with the lineout in the 2nd half.

Pretty good crowd for an NPC game, even for a final. Smart move to make it free, they would have made money from the beer and ghost chips.

It's hardly a rivalry when one team dominates for years on end as Canterbury have done for the past decade but it's great that Auckland this season have re established the great rivalry. Rugby is better with this kind of intense competition. Thanks for the gracious words Cantab fans. Canterbury were great today too and played their part in an epic final.

I dunno. But if big lumps are your thing at 8 then he looks like a much more impressive example of the genre.

Popped up from Wellington for it with a few workmates for a Sunday afternoon excursion. Willing match - some big hits. HK had it all over WB in the scrum, but HK's option taking in the red zone left a lot to be desired. They then tried to close out the win with pick'n'goes from 4 1/2 minutes out and almost paid the price. Appropriately enough, it was yet another turnover (there were shitloads of them) at ruck time which helped HK clear it and claim the win. Great noisy crowd at the Domain too.

I watched it earlier on YouTube and looked a great game to have been at. And yes, Lochore looking good.

Really think the Blues missed a trick in 2013. If the Blues had reappointed Pat Lam with Graham Henry as his assistant I think they could have turned the sinking Blues ship around in similar fashion. Lam was a good coach who failed because he couldn't cope with the pressure and politics of the Blues franchise. With Henry on board I think they could have formed a formidable coaching group. Instead they appointed the hopelessly ill qualified Kirwan and the rest is history.

Finally got around to watching the game. I was all set to say Auckland showed more heart and poise than I have seen in a while (minus that last drop). I hope the majority of these guys goes on to play with the Blues. With Nonu coming back not sure where TJ goes but TJ proved to be a great captain and maybe he should lead instead of Pulu. I see Manu is going to be with the Chiefs, I hope this isn't another Fekitoa thing.
