Can you just get it done before Eveready completely breaks the board with a million exhumed Irish threads?

Like, now would be good.

From what I remember, phpbb really hates long threads. So yes, the Irish thread should go, but then so should the other national ones and the long-running picture and porn threads. That'd probably be enough.

If that's the case then we should probably start a new Irish rugby thread every season.

Well the Welsh rugby thread will hardly be missed with its 200 odd pages ffs. Pathetic effort from such a proud rugby nation.

Well if that's the level of conversation on the Irish rugby thread it deserves to be shot into the sun

If they can use their sorcery to merge threads, they can use it to split them

Could we have an archive forum? Some other places do. Posters can nominate genuine classic threads that they would like to see preserved because they are part of the history here, or some classic conversation, or something that is regularly referenced by old timers that would give context to newbies, with some rules about what can't be kept (Big picture/GIFs threads for example would make sense). Those threads get locked and archived, anything else deleted when it's 4 or 5 years old or soemthing.

Just nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure. All the same conversations will have happened again within a year

Anyone who wants to save or archive any of the shite that goes on in here is one sad wee cookie. It's pathetic enough that we post here but to want to save it :uhoh:

if u refuse to delete those big "european rugby" threads, just cull them to January 2018, delete everything before that..and while the crappy admins of this site are at that, tell them to cull other forums as well like the cricket and football ones, i bet they are 10x times larger than ours..

This.

Plus apply a Bimbo and Sen filter which automatically whiteouts four out of every five of their posts in the Brexit and Trump threads.

Before the inevitable shit-fight starts, let’s keep this thread on topic.

After a careful and selective cull of the dross in here then will my post count slip back under 10,000?

That's impossible! A polite request but result unlikely. For my own part, delete all my posts but they do not clog up the board like others.

I have some archived material from days of yore. I'm happy to contribute to hiving the board off to a storage place, probably the size of Terminal 5.

It will be a shame if we have another meltdown. I think I have survived three. Please do what you can.

Cleaning the threads won't fix the problem for good. Just permaban the oirish and the kiwis, and then 90% of the problem will be fixed for the next 20 years.

yeap, forests, very much.

To be serious for a second, i think we shouldn't delete posters or threads of posters who have passed away.
FruitAnd2veg comes to my mind...

You don’t. Some mystery Saffer does it in the night without your knowledge and you wake up as a zero. :(

I suggest appointing a group of trusted unbiased individuals and give them the power to delete so they can comb through the forum and delete useless threads. Let their judgement be final and no retribution be meted out against them.
