I find it strange that he moved from Leinster to Connacht when players always make the move away from Connacht to bigger teams

Leinster must be sorry now that they let him go

Anybody know anymore on the subject

He has been quoted as saying he didn't get on with MOC.

He didn't get on with that spoofer MOC. There was an article today in the42.ie where he mentions that, also got injured a lot I believe.

Wouldnt be bad to have him on our books alright.

Signed by Schmidt initially but didn't get on with MOC when Schmidt moved on. He did take a while to get motoring properly but was always a decent nuts and bolts style player. He was originally loaned to Connacht but that move became permanent. Really finding form now though. Huge man as well, used to see him around Dublin quite a bit.

Other players have gone that direction usually from the academy - Kelleher, Boyle, Robb, Thornbury (via NZ club rugby), loads more I'm sure.

Don't mind him it's Malcolm O'Kelly. O'Kelly used to go to all the training sessions and shout stuff at him like 'I'm taller' and 'I'm better craic on the lash' and every time Roux dropped a ball Mal would look down at his at his hands and say 'these are like feathers when I am making love Quinn'. Drove him up the wall and he said either MOC went or he did but MOC is a ledge so what do you do.

A natural big Boer farm boy.

He benefitted massively from moving to Connacht. If he didn't leave Leinster he wouldn't have gotten the gametime to bring him on to the level he's at now.

Exactly, he was coasting at Leinster and the loan spell to Connacht seemed to open his eyes to that fact.

There's no acclaim in being a Mick Kearney sadly (how my heart broke when he fecked off).

He's a quiet fella, not the most confident so I'd say he needed an arm around the shoulder rather than a kick up the arse.

Been a great signing over the years and has said he wants to spend the rest of his career with Connacht too

Wouldnt blame him, he is 5th choice at Leinster and won't be getting any higher than that with the talent coming through.

gave a recent interview where he sound happy enough, but as I said I wouldn't blame him if he left.

This. Whatever about his relationship with previous Leinster coaches, he never looked to be at the races in his few Leinster caps. He’s kicked on to a different level at Connacht and the move has worked out for the best for all concerned.

Fair play to him for sticking it out. I’m sure when it became clear that Leinster wouldn’t work out, that there was a temptation to either go home or go East. Going west has been the making of him.
