Nah.
I think Izzy ( another Sydney lad who played for Qld) is done in the NRL.
IF was 14 when he moved to QLD. He's more than eligible to play SOO for QLD.

Didn’t expect you to bite on that. :P

Anyway, pretty certain the NRL will stick to their guns on this one.

So an article on a newspaper reporting on the internal disciplinary panel is the final word on it all? I’m more than happy to admit I fell on the wrong side of it all once he has challenged the decision and the termination is deemed lawful in the courts.

yeha League has no shame.. they basically only draw the line at a combination of wife beating, rape and drugs (best 2 out of 3).... (sometimes)... i think in the last 5 years only 2 players have been dumped for this, barba and hayne..

And so it begins
Folau confirmed he had hired law firm Macpherson Kelley to prepare a challenge after he was fired for publishing an Instagram post that paraphrased the Bible by saying hell awaits homosexuals, as well as drunkards, adulterers, atheists and other “sinners”..........................................

The organisation’s decision to dismiss him on May 17 left Folau with a 21-day deadline to file a challenge under the Fair Work Act, which ends on Friday.

His claim would reportedly involve claims of breach of contract and unlawful termination under the Fair Work Act, which protects employees from being sacked because of their religion.

“We believe Rugby Australia and the (NSW) Waratahs have acted unfairly and unlawfully in their treatment of Israel,” Macpherson Kelley’s head of employment, George Haros, told the newspaper.

“Israel has several options available to him at this point, and we are considering his next steps.”

Folau seemed to think he did not get a fair code of conduct hearing from the ARU.

Either trolls or shills. And it's not just on this thread or this site. There seem to be any number of people who simply cant believe that anybody could sincerely disagree with them.

What a farken deal breaking, happy-clapping, hypocritical piece of shit.
After we'd all talked, I told Raelene if she felt the situation had become untenable – that I was hurting Rugby Australia, its sponsors and the Australian rugby community to such a degree that things couldn't be worked through – I would walk away from my contract, immediately

Now that is where it gets fun, if the termination was lawful and someone can be sacked for their religious beliefs they have nothing to worry about

So having an actioned explained as not being tolerated is not enough, it has to be a lawful instruction

Once again, religion has nothing to do with it. He was reprimanded for posting such things twice before and has since admitted that he understood such posts would not be tolerated again.

So far no independent adjudicator has accepted the religious or freedom of speech argument. I’m guessing no one will.

Nah, it is now all about his religious beliefs and so far they haven't been in front of the Fair Work Ombudsman
Unlawful workplace discrimination occurs when an employer takes adverse action against a person who is an employee or prospective employee because of the following attributes of the person:

race
colour
sex
sexual orientation
age
physical or mental disability
marital status
family or carer’s responsibilities
pregnancy
religion
political opinion
national extraction or social origin
Where an investigation finds that the employer has (or had) discriminatory practices that are linked to adverse actions for employees or prospective employees, the Fair Work Ombudsman may take enforcement action.

It seems like we are going around in circles. No one is questioning his right to religious beliefs, and RA have been very clear about that.
Now, if he can prove that it is a strict requirement of his religion to post homophobic propaganda on social media then he will be off and running.

Indeed!

I have one son in U8s and another in the second division U12 team. The U12 team is probably 50% PI and the U8 team 80%. The two main terrors in the U12 team are identical twins with Filipino and Italian background. They are both 11 years old, weigh 75kgs (easily) and are both the fastest in the team. One plays in the forwards and the other at inside centre next to my son at 10.

My youngest kid's team is a mix of all his mates who played last year. Lots of them have older brothers playing. My youngest kid has always had a few issues. I mean, he isn't on the spectrum but he's...something. Goes to the beat of his own drum etc. Last year he wanted to play rugby because his brother does. It was touch rugby and he was...adequate at it. Did a lot of nose picking and staring at clouds while the other kids ran around him. This year he wanted to play soccer but his brother told him they could tackle in the U8's and my son thought this was a farking great thing. He spent all summer practicing tackling on his older brother but missed the start of the season because he broke his wrist being a dickhead. He spent that time watching his team mates. Like, really watching.

A month or so ago he had his first match. He was strangely quiet during the car trip to the field. I asked him what he was thinking and he said "I'm just imagining in my mind what I'm about to do"

Yeah, righto.

He scored 3 tries that game and tackled other kids so hard that they dropped the ball and ran away from him in the second half. I have no idea how his brain works but I get the feeling he has worked the game out:

Observe opposition player (+ball) ---> smash opposition player ---> acquire ball = score try

He's played 5 matches so far this season and has scored 15 tries. He scored 4 two weekends ago, 2 in the first 90-seconds. He might have a few behavioural issues but I think I know how his little noggin works. I'm such a proud dad. Now to harness his powers for good, not evil.

That's great. I hung around for the first half of the U8's so might have even seen him play.

One of our twins is possibly a bit similar. Hadn't really shown much interest in rugby over the last couple of years, and would usually daydream his way through the matches not really getting involved. Then something seemed to click about three weeks ago, and suddenly he was getting amongst it - making touches, calling for the ball, and most importantly for the sibling rivalry with his twin, scoring tries. I'm not sure how he'll go with tackling next year, but at least he's enjoying himself for the moment.

MacPherson Kelly
