Imagine it will be busy during the international weekends but with only one man and his dog showing up for the regional debates.

REFRY, your spangly cowboy hat awaits you.

Latest on injuries.
Wales flanker Dan Lydiate should be rested, says Paul Turner

Wales have been advised to rest flanker Dan Lydiate to help him completely recover from his ankle injury.

Lydiate and Rhys Priestland are doubts for Wales' opening Six Nations clash against Ireland in Dublin on Sunday.

And Lydiate's ex-Newport Gwent Dragons coach Paul Turner says Wales should sideline him for the first two games.

"It is probably only right he has a rest over the next two weeks and comes back for the last two. It's a pity for him," Turner told BBC Wales.

"He will certainly be a miss. But you have got to be careful with injuries these days. If you play with injuries you can be out for an even longer time."

Wales have delayed naming their side to face Ireland until Friday, while they give Lydiate and Priestland (knee) extra time to prove their fitness.

Both players suffered the injuries while playing for their clubs in European competitions last weekend.

Lydiate has been plagued with ankle problems and ligament damage in Wales' 2011 Rugby World Cup pool win over Samoa ruled him out until he returned after treatment for the quarter-final victory over Ireland.

He was then was injured again in the Dragons' win against Prato in the Amlin Challenge Cup.

Fly-half Priestland was injured during Scarlets' victory over Castres in the Heineken Cup.

"He's stopped limping about the place so obviously we'll have to see how it goes," said Wales team manager Alan Phillips.

As cover for Priestland, Wales have called up his regional colleague Stephen Jones to Wales' training camp in Poland following James Hook's return to club duties with Perpignan in France.

Wales are more hopeful on centre Jamie Roberts, despite him yet to play a game this year, having suffered a knee injury during Cardiff Blues' Pro 12 win over the Dragons in December.

After the Ireland match Wales, who have already lost prop Gethin Jenkins for five weeks with a knee injury, host Scotland seven days later followed by a trip to Twickenham to face England on 25 February.

It's good in that the Irish will have a blu-tack surplus. It's bad in that I quite like England's Call and co getting into a right froth when Gatland speaks his mind or states the obvious. The indignation kills me.

I was anxious enough and the Irish were getting mighty chippy which made me more nervous, but now Roberts is doubtful and they've rung me gran.

Is it only me that thinks that it's not the best idea to keep a well known nervous-nelly in Hook on, uh, tenterhooks by waiting to see if Priestland is OK?

Surely if we wanted to imbue him with some confidence, we should have just said 'Look, Priestland's out, we're going with Hook'.

7. The Breadman
8. Faletau
9. Phillips
10. Hook
11. 1/2pence
12. Beck
13. Jiffy
14. North
15. Byrne

Sunday start :frown: I'll have to go shopping and such with the lady wife now, and no drinky drinky on the Sabbath for me. As for Lydiate, he has started to look a bit ragged around the edges, we need him, but can we afford to seriously break him? I'd see him rested.

The mail also reckons Ian Evans and AWJ are back in the mix. It will be interesting to see if Beck is picked, his form suggests he should be, but Gatland may go for international experience as opposed to current form. Otherwise, I think your selection will be pretty close to the team selected.

I don't mind that team. James is the best scrummaging loosehead we have without Gethin and Bevington can come on to raise workrate. Evans is the best backup to Luke and AWJ. Would rather see a McCusker or a Turnbull (when he is back to form) at 6, rather than Ryan but I've seen some performances from him this season that suggest he is not quite as tugboat like as he has been in the last couple of seasons (lost weight perhaps?)...anyway he has looked positively dynamic on occasion.

Would rather have 1/2p at 15, think that is the best counter-attacking option for the team, not to mention Byrne being a shadow of his former self. I'd then stick Cuthbert on the wing. Would be good to see Beck rewarded with a spot but obviously would instill more confidence if the Jaw is fit.

If we are out with six front line players Chart Genthin AWJ lyd priest and roberts, then our chances of winning are very slim.

But it is an oppurtunity for others to shine if and its a big IF Byrne Hook Ash and others preform and raise their level we have a chance the pressure is on Ire not us, but any team losing 6 quality players is going to struggle.

Question how do you get your avatar.

Byrne has been playing well in France, according to some, nearly back to his best form. 1/2p will need to be in the mix because his long range kicking has been impressive for the Blues and we may need a bit of that come Sunday. If he is popping them over from the half way line, it may make the paddies think twice about infringing in their own half. Also, 1/2p has experience as a winger, and although I see him as a long term full back replacement to Byrne, no point putting him there if Byrne is on form.
I'd like to see Cuthbert have a try out, but he has been blowing hot and cold for the Blues, so this may not be the game to blood him proper.

I would like to see Halfpenny at 15 even if Byrne is in good form atm in France. I think he has the potential to be one of the best in that position and will be around for a long time so we should be slotting him now. Also he seems to be taking all kicks for the Blues lately, Parks doesn't even take the close ones. Suggestion from Gatland perhaps? If so I am pleased because although he will miss the odd easyish one he does seem to be far more consistant than Priestland/Hook etc.

After all the hype Wales have to perform this six nations.
No excuses.
They will be considered as much of a joke as the Ospreys if they don't.

If we want to be a proper proud rugby nation and not a joke..we have to be dangerous both with or without our key players.
Ireland are.
France Are.
Engalnd Are.
Even Scotland.

Harry How is the loss of Six nailed on starters an excuse,
Roberts one of the best centres in the world
Priestland the guy who makes our backline tick
AWJ standout world cup preformer
Charteris went from on no not him to the French falling over themselves to sign him
Gethin one of the best props in the world
Dan Lydiate work rate of a bulldozer
You call that lot an excuse, your in f**king dream land, if any team lost like for like they would be f**ked.

If Ireland lose to us on Sunday, fudge me I will have a field day, and just to add if your not Welsh what you doing here, don't worry yourself about Wales, might have to lose this one but the guys will still give it their all.

If most of these players you mentioned weren't big fish in a tiny pond they would be considered Average at best.
You're in f**king Dreamland.

Ummmm...interesting perspective.

Roberts - Player of the Lions tour and a standout series of performances in the RWC. A world-class player by any stretch.
AWJ - former British Lion. Quality player, even if he has under-delivered.
Gethin Jenkins - former British Lion and, by all accounts, one of the best props in the world.

Charteris, Lydiate and Priestland may be 'average at best' but Gatland, bless his Kiwi heart, got them operating very effectively at the RWC. Hence our decent run. Now, we may not have won it but the lads performed well and deserve credit. As does the coach, who despite endless naysaying from certain quarters, delieveed when it mattered and has got the players operating toward their potential.

We've just started another RWC cycle. A win would obviously be nice but fans are realistic - we're missing critical players and we aren't blessed with much depth (or, indeed form thanks the regional coaches). As such, a defeat to a team as experienced and solid as Ireland in Dublin wouldn't be the end of the world. There's plenty of time and the future is bright. Time to be patient.

Harry What nation do you support are you an English halfwit or an Irish half wit, what are you doing on the Wales site, even I respect the offical pages of other nations.

You may have learning difficulties or a Welsh hater or the local villige idiot who has access to the computer at the local library but you are out of your depth, you've shown your hand and it wasn't very good to be honest.

Now this is a Welsh forum where Welsh folk discuss rugby matters in orderly manner.
If you want to stir it up there are plenty of posts for you to put the boot in, and there you don't have to be smart so you'll do well, good luck

This is a Welsh Rugby forum and if you want a intellegent debate then fine, but to come here like Harry, and start slagging Wales off when there's plenty of posts else where if you want to do that, I repect the other countries offical sites and stay off them why can't that repect be returned.

Harry is as Welsh as they come, Clive.

Loves Wales, mun. Loves it. Wants independence. Hates our Kiwi coach. Hates the Lions - wants to concentrate in Wales see.

Now, don't take his glum assessment of the Welsh team, or indeed rugby, the wrong way. He is passionate, boyo. As Welsh as rarebit and just as stinky (in the trolling sense, not personal hygiene).

You and Harry have something in common. He's also concerned about English sophisticuntry oppression of the Welsh and their constant smearing of our fine land. I suggest you join forces and fight the good fight. Many of us exiles lack the spirit for the fight and are leaderless in the face of continued Saes-led insults. Freedom my friends. Fight for it. And the right to party.
