The rebuke was also made public, which increases the impact on Jonker.

Mark Reason has also pointed out that the tackle on Mounga as he passes to Endor was high and late, which normally would be clear and compelling evidence for the opposite conclusion.

Well, I think he should have had the book thrown at him, not given a week off. We shall see if he actually loses any other fixtures over it, but I have no confidence that he won't be back once the furore dies down.

A player gets a red card and is given a week or two off; would a coach not select him for the next match? Would he be ignored forever?

I see the Chiefs fans didn't start a whinge thread against Aussie refs because Gardner penalised them 13:3 in favour of the Reds :)

Probably because 13:3 is nearly ten times less one-sided than Egon Seconds's 31:3 penalty ratio.

But in the OP you also whined because the Saders were pinged 12-3 against the Bulls but didn't bitch when the Saders were pinged 18-6 against the Clan by a Kiwi ref.

This is what I mean: you close ranks to defend him.

Jonker is actually a pretty good ref which makes the so-called 'mistake' doubly suspicious.

And, if shows any bias in the Lions game it won't be for the Lions; it'll be for the side packed with springboks who have a better chance in the competition.

South African referees need to consider their fellow countrymen and get their house in order. We need them to apologise to our visitors and promise they won’t do it again for the rest of the year.

It is not that we care so much for the welfare of our opposition. Them losing here should happen anyway.

It’s just that in a World Cup year we don’t want to be in a position where we can’t legitimately lose our bowels when we get Bryce Lawrence-ed again.

Really dumb post. You cannot remove my whinge from the context in which it was made. Which was in the wake of a number of terribly one sided performances made by local South African referees in favour of South African teams. 20-1 ring a bell?

Only an incredibly defensive poster who try and stand up for Egon Seconds's 31-3 record against visiting teams? He is utterly pathetic and if you blindly defend him then you are no better than he is.

While the 20:1 "score" may be an anomaly, the 11-2 count against the Tahs isn't and neither is the 12-3 against the Saders.

A number of teams conceded low penalty counts (3 or 4) during the course of the competition, in part due to teams on attack tend to play through penalty advantages, often quite a few.

Unfortunately Rasta got caught in the backlash of the Seconds' "scores"

I suppose it depends on perspective for many it was the bad old days but for others I bet it was the *good* old days and they have been pining for them since.

We also had to wait an impressive 6 days for a Ref and TMO combination to get a decision wrong between them. Bizarrely this has gone very quite since the Crusaders went on to win. Had the result been closer and SA officials been involved the usual suspects may have gone ballistic.

I want a punishment which will make him think twice before doing it again and send a warning to others who might be tempted to intervene on behalf of their favourite teams.

I don't care who he favoured, it's a blight on the game. Treating it as a minor mistake is tantamount to condoning it and encourages others to do the same.

A few one sided penalty counts wouldn't have attracted much attention if they really did appear to be be anomalies. They would even out over time. But that isn't what the stats show.

That's just emotion on your part.

He was sanctioned. Being stood down as a ref is a serious punishment.

He should have had the book thrown at him.

Being told that he was wrong and getting a week off was the absolute minimum he could expect and the fact that you are presenting it as harsh makes it feel like you are being supportive of him

I want a punishment which will make him think twice before doing it again and send a warning to others who might be tempted to intervene on behalf of their favourite teams.

That's just emotion on your part.

He was sanctioned. Being stood down as a ref is a serious punishment.

Is there any likelihood of his being removed from the RWC panel?
