What a lazy shite effort from Smith there to try and charge that kick down. He was walking!

Gardner's performance at the tackle area has been very one sided.

Good game do we need a royal commission regarding the penalty count?

Great defence, Chiefs.

A moment of white line fever from one of the fatties possibly cost the Reds at the end, mind the they still needed to crack the line elsewhere.

Now can I bitch and moan about the Chiefs disallowed try?

p.s. I had no problem with the 2 disallowed tries from the reds. ;)

Didn’t make the most of the advantage calls. Pick and goes are easily defended. Set 2 out from the ruck and have options

Certainly did after the final maul collapse, gave the Reds a few minutes to dig the ball out, should've been scrum Chiefs and game over.

That would depend on whether it became a consistent feature of games officiated by Australian refs involving Australian teams. If it did over a few game it might raise eyebrows. If it happened in every single season of Super Rugby, well, I’m not sure what you’d call that

We kept on making incredible last ditch turnovers then kicking the ball straight back down their throats. :x

Really impressive ball retention from the Reds. We were lucky they struggled to manipulate the back line defence

Webber didn't think the discipline was good but I thought the Chiefs defended with a lot of discipline especially in the first half. Some lazy offsides in the second but considering how many tackles they made I thought for large periods they were very solid.

All that said, the Reds did well at keeping possession but they didn't really challenge the Chiefs much, I've seen harder attacking systems to defend against. x(

Going to be a really long year, next year without Kerevi. Without him the reds back line is completely toothless.

Should have been a yellow card. Close to a penalty try.

Where is he going? A young Petaia back, Mcgahan in full fitness, won't be too bad I suppose.

This.

Very bewildering why they do not have a kicking coach.
The strange thing is that the Red's kicking coach is Dave Aldred, Jonny Wilkinson's kicking coach and with as much claim as anyone to be the best in the world. All I can imagine is that his reputation is based on his knowledge of place kicking, but even that is in question after BHs's 1-from-6 performance last week. I think AFL doesn't aid someone with rugby kicking anywhere near as much as soccer does, as AFL kicking is very approximate compared to what's required in rugby - kick the ball into a general area for someone to run onto, or kick the ball high above a pack for someone to leap for. That's my best guess, anyhow.

That last ruck at the end of the game - looked very much like he got the ball down on the line.

As per usual this year, I missed the second half of the game :x

Very glad to see the good guys get a win out of this one, a quick look a the play-by-play makes it look like the Chiefs had to do a shit ton of defensive work in the 2nd, glad they held on.
Handling still seems to be a slippery area for the Chiefs, I'm getting fondly reminiscent of those halcyon days when they could throw the ball about with reckless abandon and some team mate would miraculously be there to catch it.

Any update on the Reds prop who got injured in the first, were they were doing spinal precautions? Hope he's ok.

How good was Sam Cane 8) Boshier is seriously good and would not let down black at the WC

Both superb, but Boshier playing full 80 & arguably singlehandedly kept Chiefs in the contest in second half. Just brilliant 8)

I've lost track of the injury status of our front row stocks. It'll be nice to have some more quality options like Moli stepping up.

Moody is fine, will be back soon. Franks is still a couple of weeks away.

The other contenders (Big Karl, Ofa, Laulala) are all fit.

Moli is outplaying all of them at the moment

In the squad but ongoing concussion symptoms

I have picked up another Chiefs player as a client who won't make it back (hence the referral to me) dammit. One of the times when you don't want a client :((

Wow, great photo. TMO got everything spot on, if you watch that try in real time seemed like an incredibly tough call.

Edit: looks like it was after the initial 'try'.

A replay that no-one but the TMO saw was the reason for the baffling no-try decision against the Chiefs on Friday night.

Apart from the fact that the front on replays showed that he lost the ball
