Australian selectors are set to make the biggest Bledisloe Cup gamble in four years and change the Wallabies team that pulled off a record-breaking win against arch rivals New Zealand in Perth last week.

Protecting their winning team from a a massive confidence breakdown after losing to the AB's prior to the RWC, when they realise that they werent as good as they thought.

A man down for 40 minutes and within 7 before the Wobs kicked away late and a few missed scoring opportunities? Put the boot on the other foot and there would have been marsupial entrails scattered across the park like so many exploded sangers at a bbq gone horribly wrong after a jug of sangria was laced with acid.

The new combination of 10 and 15 is releasing some savage attacking lines. Despite playing behind a beaten pack the backline fired and only execution let us down, the structures are there. If Goodhue is out ALB can fill the spot, he starred all year for a poor Chiefs team. Bridge for Smith is a strong possibility and I dare you to stand in front of the mirror and say firmly that there is nothing wrong with that.

The pack will have a point to prove. It’s a worry being beaten like that but complacency can set up a poor performance. They’ll be keen to set up the exploded sanger scene early on.

I reckon we’ve got half a silly chance here
Bridge or Ennor for Ioane for me.

Probably prefer Ioane as he needs a bullet atm - think we need to get Reece or ennor on the field though

Protecting them from what? The possible chance of winning the Bledisloe Cup which Australia hasn't held since we they were in nappies? F-ck the f-cking World Cup. This is the time right now to fire our biggest cannons and leave no holds barred. Even if that is still unlikely to be enough --NZ are big favorites whatever way you cut it-- but we've got to at least give it the best crack we can. And you know what? Fortune favors the bold. If we did it would probably be the best more for preparing for the RWC anyway. Right now 101% of the focus should be on this match.

Can have different meanings. Doesn't have to mean you've been around forever, although that's what it often means in other sports like for example boxing, where you're a perennial contender but never a champion.
a worker or sports player who is reliable but not outstanding.
He's a good NPC player, decent Super rugby player, not All Black class.

Well, that's it. A big call by the coaches and not sure at all at dropping Ben Smith altogether. The ABs will miss his defensive nous. We'll just have to see how the noobs go. Not that positive. This isn't a settled team tightening up. All sorts of untried combinations still there. We may yet see the Bledisloe go and the ABs drop to their lowest ranking since forever.

Think we can safely say that it's a Mo'unga and Barrett 10/15 combo in the RWC.

Yep. And it doesn't bother me too much the shuffling of deck chairs in the back line. Regardless the forwards have to step up this weekend. If they do there's enough fire power in the back line to get the job done. If they don't the cup's off to Oz.

Concerned about the light weight loose trio and bench replacement which has not been beefed up. Seems like they are not going to go outside the squad they currently have unless forced to by injury so I guess the RWC thinking with nominted squad is already in place. Only hope is that this week they have worked damn hard on their defensive patterns in close.
Happy with SBW back in that midfield. He will sit Kerevi on his backside with a few dont argues and is a better option than the one trick pony Laumape.
Backs change neither here nor there given the problem had been the mess up front but Bridge is good under high ball and Reece will make silk from pigs ears which Reiko seems to have forgottem how to do.
Very happy with the obvious standouts from last week with Ritiche at first five and Barrett at fullback being taken through and can not understand all the clammer this week regards that. Are there that many one eyed, blind or drunk and stoned Canes on media?
Team has a look of all out attack but need to bring the desire this week with some rib hitters and not the sister love tackles displayed last week.

Wet weather rugby will test the skills of the two wingers... probably under the high ball.

So what more can Braydon Ennor do to make the world cup? Why keep him in the squad if never going to see what he can do?

Ioane had to go. His form has dropped to the point where you cannot even select him on reputation. Bender may be experienced, but he has lost more than a yard of pace. He is very much at the point of his career that Cory Jane was in 2015, and I think he may well miss the trip to Japan.

Agree with bringing in Laulala, but Joe Moody is damn lucky to keep his starting spot.

If that is the attitude he is taking into the camp, then he deserves to be dropped. He seems to be having the same case of the sulks that Julian Savea had.

Think he’s probably more pissed with the media than the squad. Would do well to not react. But that’s pretty hard for a young man.

It's going to be pretty hard all round if they lose this weekend for them all from the coaches on downwards. Still it's where the team is. They're going to have to get through this and then face the RWC. In some ways it's the right thing to do. Reiko and Ben can feel a bit aggrieved by the media, but if they were still poor this Saturday the knives would be right out. This at least puts a win or loss on the coaches and the players will be able to focus on their thing between now and the RWC.

Whys he upset though at the media though?

Is he suggesting the media calling for his head lately has somehow influenced Hansen into dropping him?

It's going to be hard for whingers (like me) to criticise Hansen and co's selection decisions this year. We've demanded Boúnga, its happening. We've demanded Cavea, its happening. Now every man and his dog has been demanding some old heads make way for the new and its happening. It's a shame that it feels more like a deck-chair Titanic situation than a cunning strategy

From the Silver Fern forum, a guy named Southermann, released the team for the Boks early too.

People have asked for his sauce, his reply, a good one.
