First ODI done and Australia demolish India by 10 wickets (with 74 balls remaining) in Mumbai. Warner and Finch 258/0 not out and all won by the 37.4/50 over

'Australia outsmarted India with the ball and then bullied them in the chase, with centuries from David Warner and Aaron Finch not even allowing the hosts a sniff. Together they put on the highest partnership for any wicket against India as Australia cantered home by ten wickets with 12.2 overs to spare. Earlier, they restricted India to 255 after putting them in. At the forefront of the bowling effort were Mitchell Starc, who strangled India in three different phases to finish with 3 for 56, and Pat Cummins, who took the wickets of Shikhar Dhawan for 74 and Rishabh Pant for 28 to deny India any acceleration.'

Good to see what happens when both our bowling unit and batting line up can click at the same time

That was a really impressive effort. Especially the bowling when you consider it was a pretty young, developmental team, without 4 of our top bowlers (SoK, Lyons, Pattinson and Hazlewood). India also played an experimental team, looking to rebuild over the next 4 years, but I didn't expect us to do this well.

With the T20 world cup coming up, Maxi, Stoinis and M.Marsh are probably glad they weren't selected, since they are killing it at the moment in the BB, and no. 3 Labuschagne didn't even get to bat on his debut in the shorter forms.

SoK has never played an ODI, Pattinson hasn't played one since 2015, and Lyon has only played a handful. Hazlewood is the only one really missing, and even then he was fit but not selected. Starc/Cummins/Richardson/Zampa/Agar is hardly a developmental bowling attack. Starc is the best ODI bowler in the world, Cummins the best test bowler in the world, and Zampa has been your first choice limited overs spinner for years. Richardson & Agar maybe, but both have been around the setup for years.

Hell of a performance though. Australia have to be favourites to walk the T20 World Cup at home. Can't really see anyone else challenging, except possibly England. India & the Windies might be there abouts. From today's team, swap in Maxwell for Labuschagne and Marsh/Stoinis/Lynn for Turner, and that's a hell of a batting line up.

SoK is about the unluckiest player in Oz. Domestically our best spinner since Warne, but never picked because of personality differences with the selectors. Lyons was used quite a bit in the World Cup when we wanted to play our strongest team. Zampa is young and a T20 specialist, but hopefully can develop in the future into a mainstream spinner for us. Agar is also young and is presumably being picked on future potential since he has pretty poor domestic stats, and couldn’t be considered an all rounder on them. He’s also probably a bit lucky the team was picked before the big bash where he averaged 6.5 runs with the bat, and 48 runs per wicket with the ball, over 7 matches.

Can we please have your development team?

Not saying it is a weak team, but looks to be developing for the next World Cup. Labuschagne on debut. Cary still developing as a wicket keeper. Turner has only a handful of caps, Zampa still more of a T20 specialist and Cummins, although he seems like he’s been around forever, is still only 26. Agar seems like an experiment and someone must have seen potential in him.

Strangely to him the arse has fallen out of Oz cricket because we lost a one day series 2-1 to India.

Probably has less to do with personality difference and more to do with the fact he was a raging alcoholic with a history of getting spastic drunk at formal functions.
