Was literally just about to post that it's odd the team isn't out yet.

Kinsella has this http://www.the42.ie/ireland-scotland-he ... 9-Mar2018/

Quote:
The returns to full training of tighthead prop Tadhg Furlong and Iain Henderson are a real boost to Schmidt’s team this week, while it will have been a relief that Johnny Sexton has also been free to take a full part following his back/glute issues before and during the Wales game.

Andrew Porter did an excellent job in Furlong’s absence last time out, underlining Ireland’s ever-growing depth, but the Wexford man looks certain to come back into the starting XV against Scotland.

Henderson seems an obvious choice alongside James Ryan after overcoming his hamstring niggle, but Devin Toner is in great form and has won more lineout balls than any other player in this Six Nations with 12, as well as one steal on the opposition throw.

With Garry Ringrose coming into the team at 13, the remainder of Ireland’s backline will remain settled, while it would be a surprise if Schmidt opts for further changes up front other than the re-introduction of Furlong and Henderson.

At least he said the rest of the back line remains settled.

I've just read the stuff on boards.ie, someone has posted 3 other instances of them calling the team correctly in advance :uhoh:

Hasn't the print media been given the cold shoulder by the Ireland camp?

Wasn't Cummiskey complaining about that a week or two ago. Probably explains why they can't get any information.

Lads, Ferg should not be within an asses roar of the pitch on Saturday. He was very poor two weeks ago and we have loads of young guys who are better/just as good and have the upside of being young. Play them.

He's a good pro who is playing well for Leinster at the moment but he is not able for this level anymore.

With Beirne next year, the second rows stocks will be looking very healthy. And TH and LH. And backrow. It's hooker where the problem is: time for Scannell to hopefully step up.

That's more like it. Lots to talk about there.

Ryan ahead of Toner...

On the bench, Larmour rightly ahead of McFadden, Murphy ahead of Conan, Porter above Ryan

In fairness, if that team starts we should smash them.

Tbf, Sky pad their schedule out with stuff that's even less interesting than nothing.

If they’re the same Premier Sports crowd that have in the past provided limited Rugby coverage at inflated prices with poor reliability to the US, then no, no they won’t. As soon as the feed from the stadium ends, straight to the test pattern, sometimes even during halftime too.

Ryan ahead of Toner... Ryan rightly should be getting as much game time as possible

On the bench, Larmour rightly ahead of McFadden Agreed, Murphy ahead of Conan Makes sense for versatility reasons, Porter above Ryan deservedly so

Big match for Leavy, the Scots are excellent over the ball. He'll need to be in top form to gain parity with Watson, of which he is certainly capable.

I hope Joe tells POM to put in a couple of his usual 2 or 3 big performances a year over the next fortnight, we really can't be carrying any passengers.

Thought he was excellent against Wales tbh. He smashed so many rucks and was big in the maul. Very much a supporting role but a vital one.

Fishing with dynamite really isn’t a good look.

I would be shocked if Kidney agreed to move to London. He is a real home bird, and I don’t think he has any rugby ambitions anyway. He has a nice cosy job at home and seems to have distanced himself from the professional game.

So this is the boards.ie thread. Never browse boards.

“Presuming everyone else is fit and good to go..."

Let’s hope that means nothing significant.

Yeah, remember similar being said a few years ago when LI were linked. Not sure what this is yet really (if anything). Could even just be a short term consultancy gig, although you'd have to question the point of that this season.

Conan and McFadden to be dropped after poor performances from the bench? Delighted for Larmour, but it would be disappointing for Conan.

Murphy would be a good choice really. He's been in very good form since he's come back, covers 6-8 and Conan hasn't done what he's capable of off the bench. Plus it adds another token Ulster player to the 23.

It seems a pretty matter of fact article, though when Kiss left Ulster it was pretty widely reported that he was likely going to head back to Oz, must have changed his mind

Yeah if there's a problem at the breakdown he's a better bet for that. Good lineout option too.

Cant imagine my man Lamour getting a place on the bench V Scotland. That would be brave call from Joe.

As impatient as I am and as excited as we all are, the lad is clearly not ready. Not because of that defending incident but I think the Leinster game after it showed that he needs to settle down and the players need to stop chucking him the ball in the hope he will score from 55 metres every time.

Please no McFadden though. His failure to stop the offload was brain dead.

Kidney was always an odd one to work out, like does he tactically have a clue about the game or was he just a guy who put good players into a mindset where they go out an perform. I think the former and given poor players he would do a shocking job.

He seems to be a motivational guy more than rugby skill , you might as well hire Enda McNulty as a head coach
