And apparently the new Scottish playing style is to run the ball in the middle to contact, to obviously out-muscle New Zealand x(

This time at Twickenham England come back against Scotland. Looked like there was daylight between his hand and the ball for the last try to win (Scottish spectacles on).

Last minute try against Scotland got us the pts difference, doubt the lads knew it at the time.

Look set for a paddlin here, shame we didn't draw USA.

The lads actually gave a good account of themselves against Fiji.

If you're referring to Ireland I couldn't agree more.

If Dardis' YC had gone to hand we might've won it.

Reward is at best a 5th place playoff against the Blitzbokke or NZ now. Tough enough draw.

Good showing by Ireland, tho' you can see they are used to bullying the lower tier, and it doesn't work against the top 7s teams. They should be comfortably in the top 10 on the main circuit next year.

That Ireland-Fiji QF result looks a lot better now. I won’t be shocked if Ireland make a Cup final or two next year.

By the looks of it I wouldn't be surprised if they won a tournament next year.

Irish posters, has your teams performance this weekend and the prospect of them being on the circuit next year done anything to change your view of 7s?

Nope. Obviously happy the lads are doing well for themselves but 7s is still either worth a watch and good exposure or an expensive waste of IRFU resources.

I'll happily watch and if they get Dublin on the circuit or pull off Olympic qualification it could bode well for other oval codes in Ireland.

pretty sure every team that ahs won the RWC has had atleast ONE player with a 7's background, so yeah that doesn't bode well for Ireland winning the RWC in 2019 ;)

I’m looking forward to watching them on the circuit next year, but then again I was never as negative about their participation as some of my compatriots. The way I see it , the 7’s circuit is giving opportunities to some hard working, talented players who either didn’t quite make it at elite level 15’s or didn’t get the opportunity. The Irish lads have had to do this the hard way , working their way up through the divisions and you can see how much it means to them . They’ve acquitted themselves very well in any invitational appearances they’ve made and I’m sure they’ll do well next season on the circuit. If their success encourages more young players to take up rugby it’s a further bonus.

We must also remember that as rugby becomes more and more attritional we need to find a space for players that aren’t quite 2 metres tall or 120 kg

It's great to watch Fiji in the 7s, but overall I'm not into it. Too often it's just chucking the ball back and forth till someone breaks the line once and then it's a guaranteed try followed by a sloppy conversion attempt.
Fiji at least do some interesting things with the ball and offload in ways you don't typically see in the 15s game.
I'm fairly apathetic about the Irish 7s but it doesn't really bother me as I can't imagine it takes up too much resource wise.
If they do well I'm happy enough to see it.

Who was the guy on the english team in 2003 with the 7s background?

I think most the other teams had players who played sevens at some stage in their squad who won the world cup, but I cannot think of anyone on that english team.

there are plenty of players who are not 2 meters tall or 120 kgs who are tearing it up at 15s.

Ok I guess every world cup team has had a player who has played sevens internationally in it then.
