That makes it even worse, as it was textbook crossing.

It didn't impact our defence of the try. We'd left the hole ourselves.

Which McGrath probably would have plugged.

It's what covering SHs do.

And he never checked it on the screen. It was an atrocious call.

Got better when Toner came on, as did our maul defence.

McGrath tackled Gibson ffs, he could easily have avoided him and tried to make it across but he made the decision.

I actually thought Leinster were really poor on Saturday. Conceding three tries to NH was not on. Scrum penalty (harsh) and very ineffective maul compared to the week before.

He was hardly a 6 in any of the games in Japan.
Leinster are in a piss weak group, the last test Ryan and co had was when they were blown out of it by NZ.

That’s great , but such a big part of the game shouldn’t be utterly reliant on one player

Could try to get out of his contract. I think it would suit us if he did. 4th year could even be optional from his perspective for all we know.

League leaders in France, league leaders in England, and Leinster.

That's a really weak group !

And Leinster were the only side in the competition last season. Every Leinster fan was delighted when that group was drawn. Especially when you compare it to Munster's group which has 3 of the top 4 clubs in Europe over the last 3/4 years.

Agreed with all that but surely the situation is far less likely to happen if he has to give up 12 months of a very highly paid contract with the IRFU to agree to the one being offered by Lyon . It comes down to what sort of money the French are willing to pay him obviously and the length of the contract . If they’re willing to pay him 750k + pa as a 35-37 year old then I guess he has a decision to make

Leinster probably won’t be tested until they meet Saracens, who if have a full side out will have too much again for them. Especially upfront.

Can't remember if it was just something speculated at the time or mentioned in the media but his contract could have been top loaded with a lower, easier to give up, salary for his final year.

I remember when he got this contract that we were saying that the 4 years was overly generous, but that if we got three good years it was worth it.

True. Got two. Shame the dip happened on such a big stage.

3 mins 21 secs on. Gibson ahead of the Saints ball carrier shoulders Mc Grath out of the play.

just watched that clip of the Saints try - slow it down and it really shows how awful a call it was. McGraths contact was more instinctive than anything and the Saints player ran right into him. McGrath would have needed a Larmour-esque sidestep to avoid him. Clear penalty to Leinsters - albeit it would have reverted to previous advantage for Saints.

Munster almost struggled to another glorious draw with them.
All with superstars like Pat Murphy, Gunty O'Donnellan and PJ Kruger in the pack.

Anyway, moving past Sappy's multi.....

Has anyone else given up complete on OTB's rugby podcasts?
The same two or three talking heads whipping out platitudes, saying they "missed the match but..." and the dweeb hosts trying to stir up whatever narrative/conflict they can to keep the conversation going.

Baz and Andrew's HOR I've actually come around to a bit when they have Flannery speaking.

Snakey after getting a sell out. That said I’ll be interesting to get a good few of the young lads. Hopefully Coombes or jack o Sullivan getting a big game start.

Maybe a Munster team something like:

1. James Cronin
2. Kevin O'Byrne esq.
3. Stephen Archer
4. Fineen Wycherley
5. Billy Holland
6. Jack O'Donoghue
7. Tommy O'Donnell
8. Jack O'Sullivan
9. Nick McCarthy
10. J.J. Hanrahan
11. Shane Daly
12. Rory Scannell
13. Dan Goggin
14. Calvin Nash
15. Mike Haley

16. Diarmuid Barron
17. Liam O'Connor
18. Keynan Knox
19. Darren O'Shea
20. Gavin Coombes
21. Neil Cronin
22. Sam Arnold
23. Chris Cloete

Maybe O'Shea over Wycherley for some extra size.

Presumably Leinster are in the same boat as regards missing internationals.

The defender doesn't have to change his line, the onus is on the "blocking" player to change his.

This.

If you run in front of your team mate who has the ball, you are now offside.
You won’t get pinged just for that, but as soon as you make contact (intentionally or otherwise) you are interfering with play as you chose to be there in the first place.
